This is disgusting.
While the ordinary UK people are still loosing their jobs and a lot finding it hard to make ends meet, the banks, helped by taxpayer bailouts, are throwing money about once again.
I just hope the government gets the finger out on this issue. Lessons have not be learned

A very large proportion of these bonuses are being paid by banks that were not helped directly by the taxpayer. In that respect, it's theirs to do with as they wish, they of course have to be answerable to their shareholders.
Looking at the bigger picture, these banks wouldn't be in this position if the other banks weren't bailed out. So indirectly they've been aided.
Whilst it's a very bitter pill to swallow seeing these enormous sums of money being doled out, as with many things relating to business, the government and public money, it's not exactly black and white...it's a great big patch of varying shades of grey.0 -

Oh look, a shiny thing!!!!!!
Bank bonuses are being used to distract the anger of the masses from the incompetence and creeping authoritarianism of Labour.
Seems more than a few idiots are falling for it, too.......“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I didn't hear anyone complaining during the boom years when the City of London was making a vast contribution to both the UK economy and the Treasury's tax revenues.0 -

The number of Banks who havn't either taken money directly, or been aided indirectly by the Government insuring some of the Assets on their Balance Sheets, is miniscule.
Without a robust balance sheet behind you, you cannot trade.
And yes, without a counterparty you cannot trade either.

which banks have anounced these bonus payments?
Bank of MadeUpVille and National Bank of Hallucinations
The Year hasn't even finished yet, so nobody knows how much money they have made yet.
Bonus payments were never settled until the following February at the earliest in any Bank I've ever worked for.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0
