Aww... Are you sure it's worth it?
Personally, I wouldn't sell my pets, they are family members, it would be the very last thing I would do. Is it the 'running' costs that are making you consider this, or is it the selling of an 'asset' to raise cash? Because as long as feeding him isn't putting you into more debt, it's just not worth getting rid.
I understand it's different because I wouldn't get £650 for my pets (dog, rats and cavies) but honestly as long as I could look after them (i.e. they weren't suffering because of the financial situation) I'd have the pets, anyday.I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair

I'm with everyone else on this one.
How much of an impact is that £650 going to make to your debts?0 -

Are you really sure you want to do this.
I could never imagine selling my pets, they are a major part of my family, and help keep me a little sane, although i would never get £650 for 3 moggies.
But is it really worth it? How much of a dent would that make into your debt?
Will that dent really make up for the feelings you will have when he is gone?
I have to agree with everyone else, surely there must be another way.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

This will sound harsh, and i'm sure i'll get a slating for it but it has to be said
but would you sell your granny too??
Sorry but you've had him for 10 years, i think it's really heartless to sell your pet, it's different to rehoming for reasons of accomodation etc.
Don't do it, there must be other ways, imagine how a ten year old parrot is going to feel going to another home at it's age?
I hope i am making you feel different about doing it cos it's like selling a friend or dare i say a child! (well, not that far but come on!!)
I just get infuriated with seeing a monetry gain in an animal especially when it's a pet.:(Official DFW Nerd 071/£2 saver=£10

I'm afraid I am with the 'keep my pets above paying the debts' camp too - I'd get a fair whack if I sold my pedigree cats, but I would have to be utterly destitute before I would even consider it (and even then, it would be because I couldn't care for them properly, not because I'd rather have the money than them!)
If you have had him for 10 years, he really must be like part of the family, so I think you will come to regret this decision in years to come (I certainly would anyway!) - make sure you think long and hard about it, if you haven't already. As others have said, will it really make that much difference?Highest Debt (Sept 04) -> £41,300Debt Free - August 2006!!
