Solo to switch

Hm. Would he really have to lie to the bank by saying he'd lost his Solo?
I'd be happy for him to keep it but there are plenty of online places that don't take it and I have to use my card and he pays me back, so from a selfish POV it would suit me to keep him on Solo, but a VISA debit would be better for him. He's quite sensible.
He should have a VISA debit instead. Solo/Maestro are extinct now. RBS/Natwest are the recent banks that switched from Solo/Maestro to VISA.
The VISA debit he gets will be an 'oneline/Electronic' one, which means it will check the balance to see if the account has money. If it has, transaction approved, if not, transaction declined. Your son will be fine with the card. It's safe to have this card, and won't get overdrawn.
The other kind of VISA debit is an 'offline' one.He knows everything, he's 17!
A couple of the places he buys his concert tickets from don't like Solo.
I might ask him when his Solo expires, it might be fairly soon and festival season is a way away yet.
If the card expires this year, wait. If it expires in 2010 or some other year, he could replace the card now.0 -
He could just ask for a replacement card as he would like a Visa and I'm sure HSBC will oblige(sp)0

I checked with him, it expires in February 2010."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
