V. annoying buyer or is it me?

Just a rant really, a buyer bought one of my items (£4 + free pp) last week on the 14th. I have been unable to post it until yesterday.
Postage was listed as free 2nd class p+p.
Any way, i got a message from her today saying
Q: i paid for this dvd a week ago and still not recieved it can you confirm the dispatch date as royal mail are on strike for 2 days after today and if my item is not here today i am planning on opening a paypal dispute for a non recieved item
Sounds a bit threatening. The listing stated estimated delivery date 8 - 10 working days, I posted it yesterday 4 working days after purchase, so she will be receiving it in 6.
Is she right, can she open a dispute for this time delay?
Cheers, N

if i were you i would have contacted the buyer to let them know there would have been a delay in postage. if you simply left her hanging like that and didn't inform her then i think she has every right to question the dispatch time etc.
buyers can open an item not received dispute after 7 days i believe, so yes she is able to do that.0 -
is that 7 working days or 7 days?0

You should really have kept them updated. The problem is now if they open the dispute you have to prove it was delivered. Unless you sent it by recorded mail which I doubt you did as it was so low value its up to the buyer to say they have recieved. If there is going to be a delay of more than 3 or 4 days regardless of wether they are working days or not its always best to tell them.0

thanks for your help, it should be delivered to them tomorrow, hopefully they will wait and it will arrived. I only have proof of postage, don't know if that will help. Seems like a difficult ebayer, has a few negs.
I just thought that as the listing said delivered in 8 - 10 business days it would be ok.
Ironic thing is a bought an item 2 weeks ago and contacted the seller who hasn't even posted it yet but I wouldn't have left a neg.0 -
If you said 8-10 days in the listing then i think its fair enough. Personally though once my buyer has paid i always email them to let them know which day i intend to post, or if i post within 48hrs i let them know its on its way.
Also you were already onn day 7 when posted, there are strikes planned and its only been sent 2nd class. She may well not have it by day 10!0 -

The problem is your DSRs will suffer. If they hit 4.6 you get lower in the search standings. Contact with the buyer is paramount if you are going to have siuch a long dispatch time you need to keep the customer informed. After they have purchased the item i would send them an email thanking them for payment and confirming postage date. No matter what you put in your listing though with such a long dispatch time you will suffer and it will cause problems.0 -
Hi,
All I would do is assure the buyer you are a genuine seller, not a scammer, and that their item has definitely been posted. Also kindly point out to the buyer that delivery is up to 10 working days. That should put a smile on their face.Profit=sanity
Turnover=vanity

To be honest, taking 6 days to post something is pretty cr*p. Most things I buy have been dispatched within 48 hours, or they have notified me that there would be a delay in posting.
8 to 10 days is surely the time you need to allow for Royal Mail 2nd class delivery, not how long YOU have to post it?
If I were you, I'd be as apologetic as you possibly can, stating you only posted it yesterday, so could they give it until mid week for it to arrive.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Mail should be delivered tomorrow but not sorted. While on Friday it should be sorted but not delivered.0
