All I can say is that from now on we will be asking any independent bookkeepers that we may use whether they have ever been bankrupt or not.
I can't believe it took a 2nd page for someone to mention this. How on earth is it considered discrimination?! Good Lord Jesus.0 -

I have noticed on this forum that some have been discriminated where certain occupations are concerned.
I'm looking to go bankrupt and also wanted to study and re-train to work in the finance sector, within the next couple of years.
Would I be discriminated and be overlooked for jobs such as legal assistant/paralegal etc?
Thanks!
It's not discrimination, it's risk assessment and most professionals in the financial world accept that certain things, including or not exclusively bankruptcy, exclude them from that world. Nearly all regulated industries and jobs have particular exclusions.0 -

Can't believe there are still people out there that think only people who are "bad with money" go BR :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I work in finance and was made bankrupt 10 years ago. I was honest and put it on my application. It was never mentioned once.0

That's why it's better to use accountants/book-keepers who are members of a reputable professional body who do background checks on their members. As mentioned above, literally anyone can call themselves an accountant or book-keeper as it's not a regulated profession. Of course, plenty of unqualifieds are absolutely fine, but you have to do your own due diligence on them.0
