Hmm I know...someone here a little while ago (forget the name) applied to work for an agency as an admin officer a basic office jobn not connected to finance in any way yet they CRB'ed and credit checked....mad!We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

I put a post on here the other day,i applied for a christmas sales assisant in Phones4u.Before i filled out application form computer asked"have you been BR in the last 7 years" answered yes and came back "you application has failed.
Says it all really.0 -
OMG I can't believe you can get turned down just for admin work or working for Phones4U.
Luckily I'm not looking to become a chartered accountant. I have accountancy skills and some qualifications, but not AAT. Was thinking of going for my AAT & legal training to studying for the jobs I've stated above. I don't want a job where I handle money.
I read somewhere someone had a problem going for a PA's job too, so I can't give that a try. I suppose I should think about gaining some other qualification. Any ideas anyone? A career I could bring some decent money in.0 -
I have just read this already had a feeling I would be stuffed to work again in finance or paying people, I have only ever worked in finance and payroll and went BR...discharged now...on ESA benefits due to my op on my leg from my accident, getting walk fit again now after last op. but suffering terrible from the depression the BR and the accident caused. Now reading this I feel worse, I knew I would be stuffed with the accounts and the ESA pathways to work people are trying to push for me to think about retraining to pull myself together, but this has given me serious doubts now.....the discrimination is awful....it makes u wonder what u can do....age against me too being 47 retraining is not hard for me as i love learning and training, but they look at your age too......big sigh and puff.....

what can we do?
Falling down is NOT failure, failure is not getting up again!
Enjoying life ... All sorted finally. :j0 -

Try marketing or sales? Marketing earns good wages and you can select your industry. You can be marketing for the travel industry or education industry etc.0 -
Pingu229 - I will try marketing has I was once interested in that field. I suppose it's worth a try. Thanks0

It will not show on a DBS check however if you are asked on the application if you have ever been BR you will have to say yes. It's also in The Gazette permanently.0

And if you did get the job you would have to live with the threat of instant dismissal hanging over your head.0 -
All the people questioning why people would discriminate against bankrupt people, I don't consider it discrimination. If you knew someone was so bad with money that they ended up bankrupt, would you really want them dealing with your money?
All I can say is that from now on we will be asking any independent bookkeepers that we may use whether they have ever been bankrupt or not. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
