just had a call from samsung escalations and they are picking up the tv for a free repair as a goodwill gesture!!! I sent off an email to escalations explaining the problem with my retailer and how dissapointed i was and they just called now!!

just an update. the repair centre came and fixed the tv yesterday foc. I was lucky that i had contact details given to me by another poster, otherwise i would have got nowhere. It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt0
