Try Gmail Backup.

You can backup your email from one account, and then restore it to another.

I suspect that, like me, you delete newsletters, promotions, and various other tat rather than just archiving it as gmail suggests.

I've had my gmail account from way back when you needed an invite and I'm still at "You are currently using 368MB (4%) of your 7382MB." If I kept every Amazon email that arrived I reckon I'd have blown mine by now too.

I too having 9837 emails in inbox but used 92% because of lot of high resolution pictures
