SE Satio and O2

Options
well i'd been holding out upgrading until the Satio became available. Have just rung O2 (direct) who confirm they have it in stock and I can get upgrade on it (even tho their website doesnt show them having it).

my problem is the attitude of the sales person on the phone and how much they want for it!

She said I can have it for free on the £75pm contract or pay £96 for the phone on the £45 contract - which seems a bit excessive given what other networks are offering. I said this to her and she said " I'm aware of what the other networks are offering, but this is OUR companys price" and basically said 'tough'.

I know there have been issue with their retentions etc but oh my god, do they have to be so rude?!

I would like to stay with O2 but given all the bad press, not sure what to do now!

Has anyone got this phone with O2? If so, how much did you pay for it?

im unsure whether you can post links to other msg boards on here, but if you look on the official o2 forums, people have been in the same boat as you

i have noticed mobiles.co.uk have the phone for a good deal, but given the horror storys on here im unsure whether i would trust them either
  • I bought this phone from Phones4U, with Orange network. I have been with O2 for the last 4 years, and never had any network issues. The phone is brilliant, and so was Orange's customer service, but the network is terrible and I couldn't make calls or use the unlimited internet offer that came with my phone package. I am now planning to cancel the contract. Spoke to O2, and they are doing a £100 per month contract if you want the phone free!! That was a right rip-off! Else I had to pay £197 for the phone on a £35 contract, or £97 on a £45 contract. If you have good reception in your area for Orange, I would say, go for that! It's so much cheaper, and the customer service is simply brilliant!

You can upgrade through p4u, they are doing it for free on the £35 tariff.

  • I was offered a similarly bad deal from o2, so decided to e-mail their customer complaints department asking them why they were being so uncompetetive, and also detailing the deals that the other networks were offering for the Satio. After a bit of negotiation, I managed to get them to give me the Satio free of charge on an 18 month contract, with 600 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited browsing for £35 a month.
  • P.S. the e-mail address i contacted at o2 was:

    complaintreviewservice@o2.com
  • Is the satio out now? I thought they were all recalled.

I thought that the Satios sold directly from the network providers were ok, it was just the ones from places like CPW that had a problem?

^it was the generic versions that seem to have the problems, my Orange one is fine, o2 probably would have had the generic version so likely to have been affected but a new software version has been released last week which should have fixed the reported bugs
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D
  • Yeah, CPW and Phones4U withdrew them from sale. They're still on sale directly from the phone companies though.
  • They are back on sale at phones4u and CPW, with updated software of course.
