No worries, if you like savings why not put it in an ISA instead.

But while you have debts, all forms of savings are pretty useless because you are making yourself poorer by

    a) Paying more interest thanks to the debt
    b) Inflation means that savings interest is not that great

So effectively "compound interest" is working against you twice!

As for the rip off bit in my post, that was harsh, however she is probably making a tidy profit, not only from your interest (and all the other peoples combined) and also the fact that if she has sufficient customers she may have a deal with these companies to get vouchers at discounted rates

    Just a thought :S

Both the CC amounts are on the same card American Express limit £5200, the 5.9% balance was a balance transfer from my barclay card, was 16.9% there so transferred and canx Barclay Card.

I know that any payments that I currently make with go against the 5.9% balance first.

Have only just ( yesterday ) applied for the Capital One card, hopefully the limit will be enough to do both balance transfers to the 0% rate, but probably won't know for 2 weeks until they process my application.

I did check my credit File in January and it said had an excellent rating but this my have gone down as I then got American ecpress card, changed my bank account and applied for a mortgage ( lucky escape as this was with ex boyfriend )new mobile contract and now new check for new rented place - don't knoow how these searches will effect my rating but it should still be good enough to get the new credit card, I did have one of those "you have been preselected letters" don't know if this is a good or bad sign.

    madman 2000,

Tried to contact talk talk to get advice about connecting me, but they said couldn't check until I had a BT number, the flat is a completely new build investment property ( I am just renting ) so no previous number with previous tennants to check the possibility of connection.

If I get a BT number then will also have to get a 1 year contract, so a bit of a chicken and egg thing.

I also live in quite a rural town ( Biggleswade, South Bedfordshire ) and there is a possibility that we won't have been connected yet.

    Hi there

I know that this has already been said but would it not be better to reduce the amount you are putting away for saving and throw that at your credit cards. you would be debt free much quicker!!!:o

Also any credit searches done on you do lower your creit rating. Especially one for a mortgage company so you may have a problem with the capital one card as they will see your other searches and may tell you to reapply in 6 months.

    fingers crossed though

    sorry llh,

thats a good point. You will have to pay an installation charge to BT, you will have a years contract with BT so BT probably wouldnt let you move your line to TT within the year. as you say its best to go for the cheapest bb about then which is something like tiscali's £12.99!

    Kev,

I have to say you re on fire today!!

OP, have you thought about getting a second job? Maybe in a pub or something? It will give a bit more social life but not cost you whilst you are doing it?

Just a thought, but it might get you out and about if you are recently single.

Oh and agree with Kev, I would look at cancelling the scheme and getting your money back.

After all, you are tied in with vouchers and could save this money (if you really need) yourself.
