Blackberry 8900/Curve Wobbly Keyboard & Stuttering Trackball

Options
Morning all

Ive had a nightmare time with O2 (blackberry) customer services repair team attempting to book in my phone for the two faults above. Finally got it sorted now so it should be looked at this week

I advised the o2 advisor that my blackberry curve keyboard wobbles and she said this is normal, has anyone had this fault? I advised her that I have had my phone for 6 months and the last 2 months the keyboard has started to wobble. A couple of my friends have the same phone as me and their keyboard is solid and sturdy

The trackball issue seems to be a common fault as dust settles under the trackball. The same way dust would settle under an old style mouse where you have to take the ball out the mouse and get rid of the dust

Thanks

i have had exactly this fault with the pearl 8100 trackerball for over a year now....(meaning i can't scroll "up")

this is the reason that i'm currently searching for good deals for the (less well spec'd) 8520 with a tracker pad rather than the "better" 8900 (ball)

The wobbly keyboard is well known, do a google for it.
I had a dispute with Tmobile over it (the store claimed it was a 'design feature'!) but they backed down and I went with the Bold in the end.
Some batches of the Curve have the keyboard issue some don't.
I would suggest a written complaint. TMobile branch were useless but their customer service/head office were great and sorted it out immediately.
Shame because otherwise the Curve is a great phone.

    See for example

PS you can temporarily fix it by putting a small piece of folded up ductape in between the spacebar.
  • Thanks for that Andy

I did the same google search on the keyboard issue

I popped into my local o2 shop today and they were more receptable to the fault than the customer advisors on the phone so I will be booking it in next week to get sorted

not much help to you now i know but if you have a bb on orange and it goes faulty, they exchange it next day for another one.
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
