I thought all Safeways were changing to Morrissons stores.....the one my sister works at is now Morrissons.
Morrissons is my nearest supermarket, and I rate them very highly. All the delivery trucks have Safeway on the side of them since the got taken over.
Here is my order of preference for locally available shops.
1) Morrissons
2) Somerfields
3) Sainsburys
4) Tesco
5) Aldi
Somerfields would have made position 1, but there is no free car parking, so I have to walk and therefore cannot carry much. ( I refuse to pay parking fees)0 -
Plumb do you know when the Bath store is being done?0

I wasn't aware that Somerfields had taken over Safeways, thought that was Morrisons.
We have a Somerfields very local and they are great. Quality of stuff very good, meat better than Tesco or Asda and the weekly offers are really worth buying. Stuff from the instore bakery is delicious, especially the bread and the double choc chip muffins.Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0 -
Morrisons were allowed to take over Safeway on the basis that they had to get rid of a certain number of stores - all to do with monopolies commission and that kind of gumph.
Anyway, they have sold the excess to Somerfield - but most are still to be Morrisons.0 -

We have 4 safeways within a 15 minite drive away and were told the bigger stores were going as morrisons and the 2 smaller stores were to be somerfields, so now we will have 2 morrisons, 3 somerfields,1 sainsburys and 0 tesco or asda -now why that just aint right. >:(The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

You wanna count it as a blessing that you missed the half priced Teachers. You might have been tempted to buy it. That stuff is bad. Give me a single malt any day.
can't drink the stuff anyway since an unfortunate illness/upstairs window incident several years ago....was gonna get it for parent...... ;D :-XOnce the realization is accepted that even between the closest human beings infinite distances continue, a wonderful living side by side can grow, if they succeed in loving the distance between them which makes it possible for each to see the other whole against the sky.0 -

It seems to be the little stores that Morrisons didn't want. I know ours is very small. We'll just have to wait and see what Somerfields is like when they open in a couple of weeks. If I had known then what I know now . . .
:A Official Boots Tart (I seem to be retired just now though) :A0
