I hate ironing and never do any! I get my hubby to do it all but I did treat him to a steam generator iron ;). He used to complain the whole time he was ironing but now just raves about how fab it is (think we need to look at our social life :o) He takes half the time to do the ironing since we got it and the clothes seem to stay ironed for longer IYKWIM.

It was £65, not very MSE, but that would pay for itself in a month compared to paying someone else to do it for you!

I don't iron anything, ever. OH irons his own shirts. I peg out wherever possible, shake and fold carefully or hang. Ironing is unnecessary and life is too short.

i agree that the best way to make ironing bearable is to do it in front of the telly when something interesting is on. i find that a bit of dance music on helps too...:)

    I hate ironing!

Anyone is welcome to the basket of stuff sitting in the conservatory (neatly hidden away! - okay, it's not much, but it keeps whispering "iron me!" every time I walk past it):o

I don't iron things that can't be seen. I would love ironed sheets - but not enough to iron them myself!

The only way for me to iron is to have a good film or something on TV that I want to watch & get it over & done with that way.
I haven't let the pile build up too much just recently, but in the past when that has happened, DH has done it. You would think I would be pleased about that, but tbh he does it with such a martyred air that frankly it's less uncomfortable to do it myself!:o

I used to love ironing...until DD started school and I had her uniform to do as well :rotfl: Now I tend to put a DVD/video or the TV on and iron while watching, makes the ironing go much faster ;) Its amazing how much I can get done while watching CSI or a film :p The other option, mainly when I have back ache, is OH does it while watching a film or DVD but he takes regular breaks so doesn't get as much done as I do.

I don't iron anything I don't have to, bedding, underwear, PJ's etc are folded and put away when dry, everything else is (usually, unless OH does it or it's raining) folded neatly when it comes off the line/hangers. I have taken to ironing my teatowels and napkins again though, they just feel nicer when ironed, plus they're easier to put away :p. I pile it all up and save it for a night when there is something I want to watch on TV or a night I can watch a film...which reminds me, I better pick a film for tonight before the ironing pile takes over the livingroom

I hate ironing too but the following arrangement works for me.

My ironing pile was 50% DD's - I'd iron it and ask her to put it away but found the stuff unworn in next weeks washing! She now does her own (well wears things unironed) and the amount of washing has decreased too.

I take all hubbys work shirts and DD's school blouses to a lady who charges me £5 the lot - worth every penny and the rest I iron, which takes about half an hour per week.

Black and white film does it for me. It makes the time pass very quickly. Find Brief Encounter the best (not, of course, that I iron my briefs!)
