aquiring network address usually means that the pc is getting its IP address from the router , and if it cant find one then ya cant use the net on that pc..
I personalluy prefer to set the ip as static as this means ya pc always has the same address..
have a look at www.practicallynetworked.com for info that may help ya do this..
basically the ip of ya belkin if im correct is 192.168.2.1
in control panel for ya network connection choose its properties, then choose tcp ip then properties again..
tick specify ip address and use something like 192.168.2.6 the last number can be different but the first 3 sets must match those of the router
subnet of 255.255.255.0
gateway will be 192.168.2.1 or address of router
the dns server are those that are supplied by ya isp.. if unsure about these then call ya isp and ask what they are or post ya isp name here and itll be fairly easy to find out the addresses0 -
ok
thanks a lot for that

How do you figure that out? Surely the bandwidth thief can set a static IP address as easily as you can? The best it will do is stop the casual or accidental thief, it won't stop anyone with half a clue. What goes around - comes around0 -
still no joy to be honest,i did a restore on both and that hasnt changed anything and when i go back to the router site i keep getting a system error.
it keeps saying i have a connection and a secured network(wpa)then changes about every thirty seconds0 -

my problem is since working out how to secure the network ive had a problem with the connection ,it will say excellent connection, for 30 seconds cut off and come straight back on again and so on..0

what software are you using to connect to the network is it windows or some other, with mine i have software but now and again it stops the connection and windows takes over it, if the software connects not long after it will loose connection and windows wireless will reconnectThings that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0
