If they really need to verify your entitlement to drive from the counterpart, call the DVLA on 0300 123 0784 or 01792 786 369 and ask if they'll fax a D441 to the dealer. This is the old routine that used to exist for faxing evidence of entitlement to a driving test centre on the day of a driving test where someone had lost part of their licence. NB: You can't do this any more for driving tests, but I see no reason why a dealer would refuse it if it contains the information they require in good faith.0
