7 weeks will be the absolute minimum....the breeder says it all depends on when the mother starts to wean the pups off and when they start to fend/ eat for themselves.
The day im due to get him will be 7 weeks 4 days. (3 days under the 'rule' I suppose, but nothing major). Like I said it all depends on how the pup is progressing in its own time.....im not in any rush and neither is the breeder. The pup could stay there till 12 weeks if I requested! :T
hmm, my concerns are not just about whether the pup is able to fend for itself and fully weaned, but much more about socialisation and learning manners from its mum - I think this is likely to be even more important in a breed like the staffie, which is a strong little dog.
I am surprised that this breeder is happy to let them go early at all, and that s/he seems to think weaning and eating are the only things that need to be developed befre pup leaves.0 -
Well, you could call him Damian! lol someone who boarded a Dog with us called theirs Damian but then he was a right sod, English Bull Terrorist though! Makes me wonder if he became nasty first then was named, or if they wanted a nasty Dog?!
Does the breeder socialise them with everything (Especially other dogs?) If he were a she i'd be suggesting Chaya for 'Shade/Shadow' as he's just a dilute black, but it doesn't go for a he like Madison doesn't.
What's his pedigree name? Maybe it could be linked to that?0 -
I dislike the dog names that try to insinuate the dog is somehow hard or dangerous - poor old staffies seem to get lumbered with these a lot, no doubt something to do with the insecurities of some of their owners, who want an 'image' to hide behind - For this reason, I would avoid Blade, Tyson, Diesel, Rogue, Steel, Kaiser and Damian!! (and the many many others along similar lines!)
Personally I quite like human names for dogs, and I think Blue is nice - maybe becuase I knew a dog called Blue (a lurcher) and he was lovely.0 -
I know it's not blue related but I always like the name Rogue for a male dog!0

No good breeder will let them go before 8 weeks, 10-12 weeks is becoming more accepted now. However if you are prepared for the extra work then thats fine.
I think he looks like an Arnold.0
