Celotex (merged threads)

Hi

I am posting to help out my OH so please forgive me if I'm a little brief with the info!

We need to insulate the pitched roof on our new extension with Celotex (or equivalent if there is anything!).

Does anyone know where would be the best place to purchase from in terms of price we have a few trade accounts for Buildbase if thats any help.

Thanks

i bought mine from company called building materials direct. they are on ebay but give them a call and buy direct, you will get slighty better prices and they are very helpful

they were the cheapest for us about 18 months ago when we did our loft conversion

btw celotex is same as kingsan etc

Seconds and Co deal in this stuff, and have discounts for 'seconds' - might be worth giving them a call if price is the overriding factor. I've just ordered some from them for boarding out the loft and they were good to deal with.

Hi all, we are currently building an extension and have now finally started the work inside.
We need to buy Insulation boards to go in the roof, these need to be 100mm thick and we need 10 of these. We also have to get some for the floor and these need to be 25mm thick and we need 5 of these.
Can anyone recommend anywhere which is reasonably priced? I have been looking on the internet and have found big price differences from different companies.
Oh on our building spec we have been told to get celotex, is this the best brand to buy as have seen b&q do one?

    Thanks.

You'd need to check the spec of the B&Q stuff to make sure it meets regs etc. I'd rather use Kingspan over Celotex. Celotex is fibreglass based and itches like loft insulation:mad:. They both cost the same.
  • Best thing to do would be go into/phone a builders merchant and ask them for there best price.
I recently phoned up for 50mm celotex and was quoted £19.50 per sheet, told them that wasn't good enough and within 30 seconds the price had come down to £14.50!

Cheapest I can find (including free delivery as long as you don't just want a couple of sheets) is here:
    https://www.planetinsulation.co.uk

Or, there's some seconds on eBay at a lower price, but you have to pay for delivery.

We used a similar product called Xtratherm. By ordering a lot,
,we were able to even beat the prices of seconds&co.

You need to work out exactly how much you need as it will be easier for them to deliver than for you to collect. Ring round to get quotes (you would expect free delivery, but factor that in). If you know what thickness you require it would be handy as people on here might be able to give you a figure of what you might be able to get it for so you know if your getting a good deal.
Wouldn't bother with seconds as they are dearer than new.

I had 90mm and it worked out £25 or £27 a sheet. So thicker should be slightly more, but don't expect 45mm to be half that price.
  • Hi

Guy on ebay has 10 2.4m x 1.2m x 50mm sheets for £171 with free delivery. Best ive found.

We used a product called actis, the u values were a lot higher than what kingspan were and it is only 25mm thick so didnt impose on the inside height of our loft extension http://www.just-insulation.com/super10.html
