  • Have you tried paying through the .com site? Sounds daft, but I had problems paying fees through the co.uk site but went to .com and it worked perfectly

thanks for your help. before you replied I clicked on "other payment methods" and chose credit card. I was under the impression, if I clicked continue, then I would have to fill in a form of some sort, but instead it told me to tell my seller that I want to pay by credit card.lol. you would have thought paypal would have some form of some sort :D

Contacted them today. They refused to accept it was their problem first, until I googled for error 3005, where people with their own sites were having the same problem-problems from 2006! So this isnt anything to do with eBay, but something to do with paypal.

Another update-I made a new buying account on eBay to keep the business and private account separate if in case I ever need to claim from a courier service and they think that I am selling a used product of my own as a business, instead of it actually being mine. It also shields a little bit if I buy certain products to resell after Ive fixed them up lol.And it means that competitors wont be suspicious if I buy something off them because the dollar fluctuation means that the price of an item was more than the day before-Its happened to me once with a WiFi adaptor :D

Anyway, all that behind, with the new eBay account, but with the same paypal address used, I got the same errors as above.Ill be in contact with paypal again-last time it took me 5 days for them to agree that they had a fault with their system. After the first two days, I admit I became a little rude(well not swearing or anything lol) but I had to prove errors to them and told them if they even looked at the link I provided to moneysaving expert etc... they could see that they have a problem with their system and tbh, I am now less likely to want to use paypal as a buyer on eBay. I am now contacting sellers for other payment methods because of this error. I wonder what would happen if large companies had the same error?

EDIT: Ill admit, I no longer get the error 3005 message

EDIT EDIT: I am now running Windows 7, so definitely not something wrong with my system

Have you tried using Safari, opera or google chrome or an older version of firefox. The new version of firefox is incredibly bloated and does have a habit of throwing up errors. Have you also checked your firewall. On the pc and if you have one in your router

Next time I buy, Ill try Chrome then :D I dont think this will do anything though tbh and Im running Kaspersky 2010 free courtesy of Barclays-on the wireless router Ive tightened things up as much as I can. Next time I buy, Ill disable Kaspersky, And go straight to my modem and using Chrome and will report back here

Right, today I bought a 3V 2025 battery on eBay and I logged in with Chrome to pay for my item. I also disabled Kaspersky and ran straight through my cable router and not my wireless one. I ensured that I was not running any protection, but I still got the above errors. This time, I made sure security was as loose as possible lol

Another update and this time Im happy lol

I decided to deactivate my paypal SMS security key seeing as though it had trouble communicating with paypal etc...-the firmware behind it isnt great. I quite liked what Barclays have, but not paypal

Anyway, I deactivated my SMS security card, deactivated my SMS key to my mobile and deactivated a security card in "my eBay" and now I can continue to paypal without any errors! Now, this way Im not blocked from sellers who require immediate payment from buyers, seeing as though I have no problems now and I dont have to grovel to sellers to explain of the problem either. Hope this lasts now lol
