I considering getting a 10" maybe 12" laptop (recommendations welcome). Do any come with Office pre-installed or would it be possible to transfer my Office onto a hard drive and install it that way? The same with other software which comes on disks.

I've been looking at this. But I really need Microsoft Office for my Uni work.0 -
then you have to configure one and add the office in it with some special discount.0

No laptop will come with a full version of Office pre-installed - the EU wont allow it.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

I'm posting on my daughter's Samsung netbook-we installed Windows from our existing discs (licensed for three uses), but we had to buy an external disk drive to do it.import this0

I have a copy of Microsoft office, but it's on cd. I just thought if I transferred the files from cd to external hard drive and install it onto the netbook that way?0

Map the drive on your main computer, that's the way to do it.
1st "share" your DVD drive - right click and find Share
Then "Map A Drive" - along the upper line in windows explorer, it will in turn show as Z drive, then on the netbook go to Network and locate Z drive.0 -
Personally I'd just got for "Open Office" unless there's a specific reason you need Microsoft Office Office. (Open Office is roughly 95% compatible with MS Office) (the 5% is probably MS centric stuff that you'll probably never use...)Laters

Yes, as long as there are no obstacles with regard to licence, you can install to your Netbook.
As there is no CD drive, there may be times where you may require a virtual optical drive.
That way you can create disc images with another machine and play them on the Netbook.
You can download and install ImgBurn to the machine with an optical drive in order to create an image file.
You can then transfer the file to the Netbook via USB drive and play it by installing; DAEMON Tools Virtual Drive 3.47 for XP on the Netbook.0 -
Can you download Office or do you need discs?0
