Pampered Chef recommendations

Hi there,
I am going to a Pampered Chef Charity party soon and understand that the items for sale are quite pricy:eek:.
I am hoping to pick up a few items for Christmas pressies etc and

wondered if any of you have recommendations?

(I would also be interested in hearing of any disappointing purchases!)

Thanks in advance

  • Do you have young children or know any? Because the childrens cutting knife is fab for little helpers. It has a serrated edge but does not cut if you touch it. You have to saw backwards and forewards on the food to cut.

I was sucked in by the stoneware muffin tray to make perfect yorkshire... I still can't make them:rolleyes:

Thanks that sounds fab ;) I have two little monsters only too desperate to get chopping ;)
  • Well I found it lovely not to have to keep saying "be careful, mind your fingers" every 5 seconds:rotfl:

I bought the food chopper - which was useless! It cost £26.95 and was worth about £3! It stays in the cupboard.
  • I always make excuses I am busy *blush*

If you really must buy, the pizza stone is £20 aprox if you would use it?

Or you can ask for the consultants name to do an online order which gets credited to them as you 'need to consult OH as you want to buy the whole range' ;) Then forget about it lol

I'm not a fan to be honest, the large muffin trays are about £46. PC is so much more expensive than lakeland, yet I find their products far better quality. Also when I had an issue with a LL product, their CS was frankly amazing :)
  • I went to one once and tried buying the cheaper items; ended up with a tiny jug that measures up to 120ml/4tbls and i use it all the time; very handy!

I also have a little cutter, it's in the shape of a tippex mouse, but more slimline and it's invaluable for cutting through plastics when something like a cd/dvd is wrapped up. That was only a couple of ££ I think.

The mini cake tray is great. Don't know if that makes sense, though - see https://www.pamperedchef.co.uk/ordering/prod_details.tpc?prodId=7976&catId=122&parentCatId=122&outletSubCat=&viewAllOutlet=.
It's great for little cakes and little Yorkshire puddings.

The other thing we got which we use all the time is a hand soap dispenser. You put in a bit of liquid soap and fill with water - means you only use a fraction of the soap you would otherwise.

i think most people find the pizza stone useful, but only if you make homemade pizzas, or buy fresh

i have the mini muffin pan, and the tool that squashes pastry into it. can honestly say ive used it once in 5yrs!

alot of people i know, bought the chopper, because it looked good when demonstrated. but again, very few have used it since, as its quicker to use and clean a knife. although someone did say it was good for making baby food, when weaning, but other than that......

I bought one of the large jugs with lids. I use it constantly and its great if you've done too much custard/gravy/sauce you just need to put the lid on and bung it in the fridge, and as its heat proof I've even made sponge puddings in it! I wasn't cheap but its worth its weight in gold. I also bought a little blade (like a mini stanley knife) which is great for unpacking boxes - which is great for someone who's an army wife and moves excessively!!

I'll probably become a pariah for saying this but I hate Pampered Chef. I hate all selling parties TBH, but this is the worst because of the amount of money you are obliged to spend (yes I know eveyone who has one says you don't have to buy anything, but you do don't you, when you are there and being persuaded).

Before anyone from Pampered Chef starts jumping on my head for saying anything against them, don't get me wrong, the basic stuff (knives, cake tins, pans etc) is very good quality and comparable to what you would find in a good specialist kitchen shop. They are pricey though - if I wanted to spend £100 on a frying pan I can think of other makes I would prefer to have. The stoneware looks nice too and I must admit I have been tempted in the past - but £48 for a 9" x 13" baking dish? £42.50 for a 12 cup muffin pan? The glassware is nice too, but how about £16.95 for 6 little glass 'prep bowls' with plastic lids? If you are not careful you can leave with a three figure bill for things you didn't even know you needed.

My main gripe is with the gadgets they push! The chopper (£26.95)which has been mentioned on here already is a prime example - you can buy a similar thing anywhere for a quarter of the price. Then there's a little measuring spoon with an adjustable bit on it for different quantites for £9.50 - really, how difficult is it to just use a spoon? Same principle for the adjustable cup at £13.95. There are so many things that are totally unnecessary, however good the quality and however long they will last.

So that's my opinion for what it's worth, I don't imagine I'll get much support but there you go. But please, have a look at the prices on the website https://www.pamperedchef.co.uk/ordering/shopOnline.tpc before you go and make sure you know what you are letting yourself in for.
Oh dear, here we go again.
