Rise in National Lottery Euromillions ticket prices?

I think you'll find that the 'rise' is to pay for an extra game, the Millionaire Raffle, that guarantees a UK millionaire every week. And no, you can't just pay for either the Euromillions or theMillionaire Raffle, you have to pay £2 and get both games.
"As of 7th November, EuroMillions will cost £2 per line of numbers and include the Millionaire Raffle game, where every week, from the first draw on the 13th November, one lucky UK player will win £1 million – guaranteed.
Every time you purchase a line of EuroMillions numbers, you’ll be issued with a unique Millionaire Raffle selection – which will be displayed on your ticket. This Millionaire Raffle selection will then automatically be entered into the weekly Millionaire Raffle draw."0 -
but at the bookies you don't have the dream/chance of winning £100million
All right, but. . .
At 10 Downing Street, you have every chance of losing it, every week:
"You're about 5 times more likely to become the prime minister than win the top EuroMillions prize." (Pound's post)
I'm gonna stand in the General Election, yay!!!0 -
First Millionaire Raffle draw is on 13th November, Friday 13th November. Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?0

Gawd, I hope they are.
It means you & I might be the only beggars who, not being bovvered about black cats and walking under ladders, can win the SAME AMOUNT MY WIFE WON TWO WEEKS ago for getting FOUR numbers on EuroMillions!!!!!!!£12.40p.
(I kid you not.)0 -
Grrrrrrr,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I'm fuming 'cos apparently from 7th November, the price of a Euromillion ticket goes up to £2. As if we weren't being taken for enough of a ride already.
I planning to boycott Euromillions from now on ..... and if all of us that ever play do the same, they'll surely climbdown from this preposterous and unwarranted increase.
Does anyone feel the same way about this?

Brilliant! joined over a year ago and thats the best contribution you could make? I cant make heaad nor tail of it..
so what though - its just a 50p bet to win a million pound, i dont mind, one less packet of crisps a weekone of the famous 50 -
Never buy them and dont intend to now0

It's a waste of money whatever amount you pay.
The prize that has odds of 551 to 1 costs you €2 and wins you €28
At the bookies a bet with odds of 551 to 1 that costs €2 would win you about €1000.
So is this the reason that Lottery winners always, without fail move house?;)Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
I don't know much about global economics but I reckon this extra game is a smokescreen; the rise to £2 probably fairly reflects the cost of a euromillions ticket on the continent, €2. Since the £ has crashed against the €, it was probably felt that we should increase our ticket prices to match our euro cousins ticket prices!?!0

Yeah i think thats it. The deal was always they pay €2 and we pay the equivilant of £1:50. Now they exchange rate is so bad they've had to up ours and stuck this extra game in as a smoke screen to make up for the rise. Personally i'm in a syndicate so have to pay it but its only an extra 50p so not the end of the world! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To be honest I've wondered why the prices haven't gone up before? The normal lottery ticket has been £1 since it started...... every bl00dy other thing has gone up in price why not the lottery?0
