Debt collector letter now...should i pay?

Hi, hope someone can help and advise me on what i should do. Back in January of this year i received a car parking ticket from central ticketing demanding payment for parking in a disabled space without displaying a disabled badge. After reading posts from this website i made the decision to ignore the ticket as i received the ticket in a private car park. Then a few months passed and i received a letter demanding payment so i used a template letter from this website which said i was not the person driving the car that day (which is true) and im under no obligation to reveal who was driving the car. Again a few months past and i received a letter stating that "further to your letter of appeal i am writing to inform you that on this occasion you have been unsuccessful. Your vehicle was parked in a space reserved for disabled users without the correct Blue disabled badge and therefore the charge must stand. The registered keeper of a vehicle is liable for the penalty charge when a ticket is issued to a vehicle. The keeper may or may not be the person who was actually driving at the time" On receiving this letter i did nothing and ignored it.

On friday i received a letter from Roxburghe Debt collectors saying "that they have been instructed by Central Ticketing Limited to recover the outstanding Civil Parking Notice that was issued against your vehicle....please note that in the absense of payment or any valid dispute we will pursue this matter - with or without your cooperation. if we do not hear from you within 7 days we will pass the matter to our solicitors, Graham White, who will review your case for potential legal action. "

So now i am really unsure what to do and how i stand with this situation. I obviously dont want a debt collector visiting the house and also dont want to end up going to court but then as money is tight a payment of £166 is not what i want to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just ignore. There is no "debt", they won't come to your house, they won't take you to court and they cannot blacken your credit record.

  • You have been sent an invoice, nothing more. Ignore them. They might write the next letter in big red letters.

    Scary eh?

Looking at the experiences of others, you'll get a couple of intimidating letters from Graham White (whose address will be uncannily similar to that of Roxburghe debt collectors) saying that you're about to be taken to court, then it will all stop.
  • Expect another joke letter from Roxburghe and two from Graham White. Ignore them all then they will go away and look for an easier target.

Hi I stay in Scotland and my son parked in a disabled space in Asda instead of a child's space. We have had one or 2 letters to our home, my son dosent actually live here anymore. I have just received a letter from a graham white solicitor saying that we now owe them £181.00. they say they have to send a letter with notice of legal action before they take us to a small claims court.

So many lies and half-truths in that letter. There isn't even a "Graham White" working for that parking company, he is actually Michael Sobell . There is an actual and legitimate firm of solicitors called Graham White, but they have nothing to do with this parking scam.

  • How can they threaten you with Debt Collectors?. It is illegal. You could call the police and file for harassment. A debt collector can only come to your house if

    1) you lost your case in court and
    2) The court instruct you to pay them and
    3) you subsequently do not pay them.

Makes me wonder why the real Graham White Solicitors don't do something about it. It's obvious the PPC know about the real Graham White and are using that name so that when people google 'Graham White Solicitors', the real firm's website comes up which leads unsuspecting victims to believe that this is the solicitor who sent them the letter.
