many years ago i was given a covered shoebox with a some baby talc, shampoo,nappy cream cotton wool ect it would have been shop's own stuff so wouldnt of cost alot (as it was from a lady in her 80's) but its the only gift that i still remember what i was given,0

Hi how about something for the mum instead. A pampering gift ie bubble bath. candles. It would be a nice change as people tend to forget about mum.0

A home made meal handed to them for the freezer? One of our friends made a lot of extra food and sent it to us in some takeaway cartons
(I'd had a section and wasn't up for cooking for several weeks).
The other thing I'd suggest is a nightie (also known as a bundler)- honestly, DS didn't sleep in babygrows until he was about 9 months old! The nightie is so much easier to do nappy changes in etc. The ones we had were thick organic cotton and were more than a tenner. However for a present how about something like this:
