  • If you're taking them into work in the morning to use for lunch that day then I don't see why there would be a problem. I use to do it all the time as our staff canteen was terrible!

Yes that will be fine. I've done it over and over again as have the people who I worked with. :)

My DH often takes frozen meals to work. Doesn't even put into fridge (keeps it in his locker as likely to be "used" by a co-worker if left in fridge!). Means it doesn't use up too much of his lunch break to reheat! He unloads lorries so often he'll only have a 10 minute break, but obviously has short breaks between lorries during the day as well.

He's been doing that for several years now and never had a problem.

I do it all the time as do most of my coworkers.

The line for the microwave can get pretty long though.

Not to mention the state of the microwaves! Couple places I've worked, they have been absolutly honking! So I invested in a wide neck flask & heated the meals up at home then ate from the flask at lunch.

I do hope some of you can help me with this. My son (22) has recently started a new job, that involves him coming home at differing times in the evening, often quite late. Sometimes I'm already in bed. I need help with healthy meals that I can leave him to reheat. I cook everything from scratch and he has a big appetite. I am fast running out of ideas. Also reheating in the microwave often makes the food dry out.
Has anyone got any ideas, meals etc? He eats most things, but is reluctant to cook for himself, particularly if he's worked 12 - 14 hours.
    Thanks in advance.

Batch cook your normal meals, then portion up for the freezer and he can take one out before work for him to reheat when he gets home. I would make things more moist than you would if they were to be eaten straight away.

    Chilli & rice
    Curry & rice
    Pasta bake
    Spag bol
    Shepherds / Cottage pie
Large Yorkshire pud with potatoes, veg, meat & gravy inside

Most of those can be reheated in the oven for about 20 minutes on gas 6, cover them over first. They can be reheating while he visits the bathroom & changes out of his work stuff.

Maybe he could come up with some ideas as to what he'd like to eat?
