Thanks for the good information guys n gals.
The bulbs were in morrisons own brand packaging, not even a customer complaint address on the packaging.

    The electricity supply is good.
I had a new consumer unit fitted 8 weeks ago, and all the sockets switches and fittings were checked out by an electrician. ( I had to have this done to buy the property as it was a repossession)
The room where the incident happened is also isolated with a circuit breaker as it is a garage conversion.

I fitted 3 bulbs from the same packet at the same time, and only this bulb seems to be defective - after approx 2hrs of use.

How the bulb should look and how it now looks...

The rest of it is still in the light fitting.

    The damage...

Now if a beer company can supply me with a full 8d report after I complained of a 4 pack of beer being undermeasured, I think Morrisons should at the very least do the same and should take liability for selling me a defective product which has caused damage to my property.
  • There's a rundown on product liability law at http://www.shopnice.com/product_liability_law.html

I don't have any association with this website, but the information about the law seems useful. I didn't know about this before.

Note that according to this, it will be the manufacturer who is liable unless Morrisson's refuse to disclose their identity.

Are there many halogen light fittings where the bulb isn't covered??? I can only find ones in my house that are covered.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It is a problem solving tool and QA document

along with, 5 why, FMEA and ishikawa it makes up for good failure mode analysis and containment and countermeasure processes.

Comming from a QA background I understand how a buisness should be addressing customer concerns.

Thats the bit i'll keep up my sleeve, if a mutual resolution is not found i'll hit them with it.
