I wonder what they would do if you went in with a large bag containing 99x1p coins, 98x2p coins etc. (i.e one coin short of a complete bag) and a filled in deposit slip to pay into your account? You would be within the 5 bag limit:rotfl:

Another solution could be to purchase the £5 commemorative coins from them using bags of change, then deposit the £5 coins into your account:rolleyes:

I know at Abbey the excuse is that they don't have the storage space any more - lol

I am glad its not just me! I will try and pay them in at the post office then, have to get rid of the damn things somehow. Have another 14 quids worth today so I have to get it sorted - otherwise I will be using the cash to pay for bus fare into the bank every day with the requistite 5 bags! I was more annoyed with the Bank telling me that even if I was paying the money to avoid going over my overdraft and incurring 30 quid fine they still wouldn't budge. As I have already stated, this is not the case, I don't even use my overdraft anymore, but I do have friends and families who are in debt and this is a likely scenario for them. The Banks are hardly helping the needy are they? the Kids both have savings accounts with Nationwaide so maybe I will pay the coins into their account, immediately draw out the note equivalent and then pay straight into my mortgage account, which is also with Nationwide. Seems a bloody long drawn out process to me! Incidentally I asked at Barclays who said that they do not charge and have no limit on the number of coins you can pay in. However hell would freeze over before they had a bean of my dosh, after reading some of the threads on here. so will have to persevere I suppose. Sorry for the long thread, I was just utterly amazed at the situation.

Hmm. I've just looked at the HBOS web site charges list and I can't see anything for paying in coinon charges or T&Cs.

I might be a stroopy mare and ask them to show you where it says about 5 bag max in your account T&Cs. Nicely, in case I'm wrong and it's there...
