I'd only hate you if you supported Ipswich Town (or Leeds, after tonight's result) :p Yes, it annoys me a bit, but as long as your paying tax (and therefore have the same overheads as "proper" business sellers), I don't mind as much.

I emailed ebay about the whole "private business" issue, and they replied with So it seems they have a system in place, although I've never seen or heard any sign of its implementation (I'm surprised no-one's started a thread on here about it, if it exists. Something along the lines of "I'm tidying out my house, and ebay don't like the amount I'm selling"...).

    I'll bet its pretty high

you may find you are entitled to maternity allowance. i get it and was in the same situation you describe. If you have an exemption certificate you can still claim it :j

Judging from the seller I saw yesterday with 3,500 listings it's probably based on sales... which they weren't making unsurprisingly especially since they wouldn't know a fake if it actually came in a packet labeled FAKE.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

I think it must be a fairly high threshold :(

Have you ever known them to take down any listings, Dave? I reported a few listings tonight I'll admit, because the seller was SO blatant, they even had a photo of a shop as their avatar!

Not so far, no. I've been known to message PowerSeller support if a seller's really blatant (such as buying and selling on the same account). That's how I got the message from Gerry that I quoted. Even that doesn't seem to work

If they're really annoying you, this link might be what you need: Clicky

You know what's worse than a seller listing something for a week without having to pay the listing fees? A seller with over 2,700 listings, all 24 hours with auto-relist. Clicky Their buyer feedback here.

Even free P+P won't make a dent in this seller, they can be posted for 30p each (and you can post up to 120 cards for 90p, if you don't charge for your wrapping time etc), so they'll just put their prices up if they need to.

It probably wouldn't bother me as much, but I have to trawl through their endless listings every night while looking for stuff.

There has been a very long running thread on this on the PS Board - http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=1200306094&start=0 #137, #143 & #157 are the significant posts to note.

I've had relative success at action being taken by emailing olly direct - his email is his user ID, as he has been personally tasked with overseeing the issue. There were a number of private sellers in one of the categories I listed in, and all but one vanished, and the remaining one is now a registered business seller.

I've also had another seller closed down who refused to refund me an incorrect item. If they were going to make a big song and dance about how they were "morally justified to refuse me a refund" they should have made sure their house was in order...

 They're using blackthorne to administer their listings! That's some volume of sales to make that worthwhile!

Or maybe they haven't realised just how much they are spending on listings and fees?

    Never heard of Blackthorne???

I thought it was maybe Selling Manager Pro or something like that. They've only recently started doing it, so maybe 30 day free trial?
