Hi,
I am looking into purchasing travel insurance (probably Annual), and have found some reasonably priced deals.
My concern was how good these companies are at paying out (should I need to make a claim).
The ones I am looking at are:
OUL Direct
Insurewithease
Primary Travel Insurance
getmy
Top Dog
FlexiCover Direct
Does anyone have any good/bad comments to make about any of these ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Since looking into this, I am thinking of going with an annual policy for 2 adults with insurefor.com
Anyone used them ?
Thanks0 -
Its underwritten by Europ Assist who are not bad.
Bear in mind that the excess for standard cover is £100 and for Premier is £50 however they charge the excess PER PERSON for each and every incident. So if you put in a cancellatoion claim for a family of four they will deduct a total excess of £400.
In addition the excess is also per section, this means if you claim under more than one section you pay the excess per section. This means that if you were in say a car accident and claimed under the medical section for four people and also under the baggage section for damaged or lost baggage you would pay a total excess of £800.
This is not neccessarily a problem but take it into account when comparing with other companies. You will find other companies may charge the excess just once per incident irrespective of how many people are claiming or limit it to two excesses eg £200 and most companies do not apply it for each section.0 -
Thanks for reply. Do you have any experience of claiming through them ??
The policy I am looking at (Through Moneysupermarket) is only £39.03 for the 2 adults Annual Worldwide (incl USA) - Which I think is great, even taking into account the excesses.
Thanks0 -
I'm a broker so deal with lots of companies, Europ Assist are pretty good with claims and actually run a lot of the assistance services for other Insurers eg when you ring to make an emergency medical claim when your abroad.
I've not actually dealt with Insurefor, if the claims are handled directly by Europ Assist then claims should be dealt with fairly, the smaller claims may be dealt with by Insurefor who I have no knowledge of.0 -
Thank you very much for the info.
Does anyone else have any experience ?
Thanks

£39.03 seems incredibly cheap for annual worldwide insurance inc the US. I would read the policy carefully and compare it to more expensive policies as they may have very high excesses to make the policy that cheap.0

It is double the excess of the 'Insurefor.com' standard insurance cover.
For me, the main purpose of the insurance is for medical cover, so a £200 excess is fine.
We normally pay around £25 each for Annual Worldwide Insurance (including the US), so £39 for the two of us seems better still

Are you sure its an annual policy for two people for the usa as i get a much higher price when I go on their site0

If it was me I would pay the extra £10 and not have the double excess as £400 is a big excess to pay assuming you both make a claim which is generally what happpens0
