you cant, vodafone lock the phone to prevent this, you could always ask them to unbrand the phone but the chances are they will not do this for you

You need to re-flash the phone's firmware. Usually your local unlocker can do this for you. SE phones are one of the easier brands to debrand/flash so you shouldn't be charged too much. Voda will not do this for you as it forces you to download (buy) MP3s from them.

If you feel adventurous you can buy a service cable and the software and perform it yourself, but the costs will exceed that of hiring an unlocker :p

These are all drastic solutions. While flashing the firmware might be a better solution due to the other benefits it will bring, there is a much simpler solution to using MP3s as ringtones.

I never had any luck with DRM, I tried but it didnt work properly for me.
Ok, k700i is old but Ive still seen people use it and I was still using it until recently when I upgraded. I actually upgraded k700 1.5yrs ago to the latest samsung, back then it was a D600, but I didnt like that fone and gave it to OH.

I have now been looking at debranding this but realised I dont need to!

That k700i is locked to vodafone so cant play MP3

well use the freebie software called MyPhoneExplorer
then go to sounds, right click on a MP3, select Use then select Ring signal

    there you are

simple as that - thats how u can play mp3 on vodafone locked k700i

I discovered it today whilst adding mp3's to it. Its currently being used as a cheap MP3 player!

Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.
