Any experience of BT Mobile?
Options
(Sorry for duplication, have posted part of this elsewhere as a reply but thought it might get more responses if posted as a new thread)
I have a BT mobile contract (thru' Mobileshop.com) that ends next month. TBH, I only went for this contract to get the (then new) Nokia 6230i as cheaply as poss. (£120 for phone + line rental)
I contacted BT CS to cancel and was told that notice is not required, i.e. ring back a couple of days before end of contract. But the guy I spoke to did try to get me to stay on. When I said main reason for leaving was costs - £27 (before cashback) for 150 mins + 50 texts - he offered SE W810 handset, 200mins +100 texts for £15 for 1st 6 months. Now this was without any requests for a better deal, haggling etc. on my part. Stupidly, I thought as BT mobile is relatively new (and quite expensive) that they wouldn't have a 'retention' dept. as such.........
What I wondered was has anyone else been offered deals by BT mobile? All I said to the CS rep was that I'd consider the offer and decide later (already have SE W800i on Orange contract and BT don't seem to have any other high spec and/or latest phones at mo'). I know from the forum, that people have got great deals with other networks but any experience with BT mobile? I would like to go back to them with an offer from say O2 that they might pricematch.
Ideally, I'd like to limit line rental to £10-15 if a nice handset (eg Nokia 6280, 3250) is thrown in. But as this is unlikely (with them having a limited no. of handsets) I'm also wondering what a good line only deal would be (as I'm interested in Nokia N80/N91 later in summer when prices come down a bit).
All advice appreciated. Thanks.

bt are right about the notice period i had a bt mobile contract but when i cancelled it they didnt offer anything at all! perhaps you can haggle more and if you dont need the phone try to ebay it and subsidise the line rental for the term (make sure u get 12 months).ummm...0

My contract ends with bt mobile next week, like you I have been offered 200 minutes + 100 texts for 6 months £15 per month, then it either goes up to £30 or you can halve your minutes and pay £22. I was offered Samsung D600, Motorola L7, SE K750i, SE w800, Nokia 6111 and Motorola V3i but no LG choc which is the one I quite fancy I think.
The thing I like with BT Mobile is the 1000 min free 2min calls to your home number (or designated number) which is great for housewifey me.
Just not sure whether a better deal could be had. When you check the websites the majority of these mobiles offered are on clearance. So thinking of going to a new provider and porting my number.
Likewise I said I would call back but again wondered whether you could get better if you went through to retention, lets face it all we are being offered is our free upgrade.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

Thanks g33za & kazd. Seems this is the standard thing they are offering. I'll see what they are prepared to offer me on a line rental only basis - I'm really not interested in their present models - if any good I'll post here.0

I have just realised I am in the second year with bt on one of our mobile, basically I said I was leaving because my husband had lost his SE T610 and he didn't really use his minutes. He was on ex amount of mins for £30 and had been a cashback deal.
Anyhow, he is now on 150 mins + 150 mins promotion + 60 mins loyalty bundle.(not sure what that is) I think possibly we get 50 texts as well all for the princely sum of approx £13.60 per month. My only niggle is that the upgrade they gave us to replace the lost phone was a downgrade to a phone without bluetooth. Which only became an issue when I needed to use his phone whilst my was away for one of its many repairs (6230i need I say more).
So in answer to the question I think I possibly did get put through to a retention team not just Customer Service£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
