o2 direct debit

A while ago I got a charge on my bank account for not having enough funds to cover my direct debit for my o2 contract. So after I paid that month I cancelled the direct debit and I go on the website every month on the right date and pay the contract with my card details.

But after reading something, should I have just cancelled the direct debit?? I also haven't even emailed/phoned o2 that I cancelled the DD but they are still getting the payments by the date each month so is it ok?????

Also on the 'my account' section on o2 website it still says my payment method is by direct debit when it obviously isn't since I went on hsbc internet banking and cancelled it from there and nothing has come out of it since apart from what I did myself.

I think you would have needed to tell both O2 and your Bank.

dont worry about it. they should have an automated DD system.
you cancel it and they recieve a confirmation from your bank.
I cant for the life of me think why you would not want to pay by direct debit, dont O2 charge extra for non direct debit payments?
the odd bounced direct debit charge must be a lot less than the 12 extra few pounds that O2 are charging

Direct Debits are 2 ways, if you cancel it with the bank they cannot take any money. So regardless of there system it has been cancelled.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
