Yeah FC! Post some more pics! I don't really get to see places like that here, apart from on 'The Bill' or whatever.... Fascinating, in a depressing way

Country gal Sjay?
Me too. I am useless in cities. I am the weirdo trying to talk to people on the underground.

Ferrier Estate SE3.
Right next door to The Cator Estate....which was a whole different type of estate.
Houses like this on it.
Thamesmead:eek:
I thought it was Depford way by the angle so I wasn't too far out, ish.
Thamesmead is horrible & thats from someone raised & educated in Brixton/Camberwell/Peckham:D0 -

You know, we moved out in 1990 and best day of my life....bit like Officer and a Gentleman feeling.....to derelict house in worse postcode.
No hot water, kitchen, heatiing...and 4 weeks after we moved in the stairs fell down....collpased and pulled out of the wall...which was damp.
Couldn't afford to do anything at all...so had a ladder. Son was 3 then...I think the council would have sent us straight back if they had seen how we lived.0 -

Gosh not Thamesmead...Ferrier was a few notches above it. London SE3 Kidbrooke but same postcode as leafy Blackheath.
I had friends on Thamesmead estate....got the flats under 'Hard To Let'' scheme in the early 80's. Good scheme on the whole as gave people a start.0 -
The first pic is Aberdeen
wonder how much its worth?

Just awful. So depressing. I'm not sure whether I'm more surprised people actually thought building these thinds was a good idea- or how people actually live in them... (don't mean that in a snobby way honest)
ETA: Yes country girl. Have lived in top-floor flats... but they were 1st and 2nd floor! Nearest big council block is about 30 miles away- but when I say big I mean about 10-15 floorsWe cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

I think I have led a sheltered life.
The nearest I have ever come to a tower block is when my train broke down in Springburn and I decided to get a taxi into Glasgow city centre.
It was a revelation to me. Frankly I was terrified.
But for the first time I understood why people forced to live in those kind of conditions become feral themselves.
