  • I lost 2 1/2 stone through weight watchers over a year I'm now 8 stone 6lbs and a size 8 on the bottom and size 10 on top I have broad shoulders :( I also went/go to the gym regularly about 3/4 times a week and have kept this off for over 2 years now but it is now a way of life you need to change your whole lifestyle plus to lose that much weight (you'll never manage it in 2 weeks) you need to go to the gym and tone up so you don't have excess skin

If you do plan to do it over a normal period of time then go for it you need to be disciplined but I have never looked back

You'd have to be 4ft 10 for 7 stone to be considered a healthy weight, and even then it's borderline underweight

It's not even possible to loose a whole stone in weight in less than 2 weeks i'm afraid. I doubt you'd even do it if you ate nothing at all between now and then as your body would go into starvation mode and you'd stop burning fat.

I think you need to see your doctor again - and NOT for your weight issues!

    SK x

Edited to add, i've just realised the OP said 3 stone in 2 weeks. !!!!!!, are you for real? 21lbs a week? You REALLY think that's possible? See my last bit of advice above - I really think you have mental issues unless you're a troll.
After 4 years of heartache, 3 rounds of IVF and 1 loss :A - we are finally expecting our miracle Ki11en - May 2014 :j

And a VERY surprise miracle in March 2017!

i think this seems like a joke
first of all to lose so much weight in such a short timespan not healthy
second of all why would you want to lose weight to get a partner back - if he only wants you for your looks he aint worth it.
if you are serious about losing weight, use portion control, cut back on what you are eating. eat more fresh fruit and veg, watch the alcohol and fizzy juice intake. switch to flavoured teas and diluting.
instead of having big sweets and crisps have A funsize.
    make fruit interesting, freeze it.
make sure you eat breakfast to start your metabolism
try and cut back on fast food, and bread.
also start doing a short ten-fifteen min walk each day
if you lose weight too quickly you will put it back on and also end up putting on more than you had lost
    try and be smart about
keeping a food diary is great the trick is IF YOU BITE IT WRITE IT down look at what you are eating at end of week and see what you could change
also try and plan what to have for the next few days me and husband try and do the 3 day rule plan next three days, makes things much easier
have things like homemade soup handy or jacket potato so you can eat that quickly rather than snacking
if you want to do this be serious you should maybe aim for about 3 stone off in total but over a gradual time the average safe weight to lose is around 2lbs a week.
and seek help off a professional gp who knows the correct weight guidelines

    Hi

I definitely recommend you start cleansing your skin with oil each night. I have mature (50's) skin and it has made a massive difference, making it balanced soft and supple and glowing.
No dry patches or tightness. I never use soap on my face.

I use almond oil (£1.69 for 250ml from Sainsbury's food aisles), it seems to be easily assimilated by my skin and doesn't smell as cookingy as sunflower or olive, but that's just my preference, any will do . Massage a little in each night, if you wear make-up it will take that off too, you may need a couple of applications. Wipe off with slightly damp cotton pads or flannel/muslin cloths. Rinse with water and apply a little night cream. Cheap and simple and you will see and feel a difference in a few days, I promise.

Good luck, there's lotys of us fighting the same battles here to keep on top of things, so you're not alone!!

I agree with the haircut idea. Also, what about investing in some accessories - scarves, bold necklaces etc. can really make a difference to outfits that were a bit boring beforehand.

I also really recommend yoga, and try and do 5 or 10 minutes every day, plus walking.

I also like watching 10 years younger, and watched an inspirational episode on Channel 4 (catch up), about a lady called Betty, who was (I think) 72, and passed for 50 something at the end of the episode...she was the non-surgery candidate.

The other thing I think makes a difference is having some colour and interest next to your face. Have you ever had your colours done? Wearing a colour that is good for you can really give you a boost I think.

Good for you, and best of luck!!

Check your portion sizes are correct (I used to cook enough pasta for 3 people instead of enough for just me)

Swap/Reduce as much as you can

Sugar free drink or water instead of fizzy pop
Less sugar in tea or coffee

  • Well now, end of day one and I'm feeling more upbeat and positive already. Largely, thanks to all your wonderful posts. I knew the lovely peeps on this site would come up trumps. You've come up with some great ideas and tips.

Foreign Correspondence - what a result - 3 stones - I shall have to pick your brains when I get stuck. You are truly an inspiration and you've made me more determined than ever.

Ruthie - Yes, I did get my colours done once and it was a real eye-opener. The lady told me I was a "Deep Autumn" and showed me the right colours to wear, think autumn leaves she said for your inspiration and I did this with great success for many years. Problem is my hair colour has changed drastically, from browny/auburn to silvery white. I've tried having it dyed back to some semblence of my old colour but the colour won't "take" and tbh it doesn't really suit me anymore. The silver is a nice colour and people always say it suits me. I have it warmed up a little with a few blonde highlights to take the edge of the whiteness. The thing is the lovely coppery bronzy olivey greeny colours that I wore don't really seem right anymore. Black makes me look like a corpse, navy is not much better, burgundy reds are too "blue", scarlet reds are good, airforce type blue is ok and sometimes the heather type purples look ok. Other than that I'm stumped so I think your idea of getting my colours done (again) might help.

Radish - thanks for the tips about changing my eating habits. I have already made a start on substitutions, luckily I don't really have a sweet tooth so changing my usual afternoon cake or biscuits for yogurt and a few nuts was easy.

I will definitely look into the oil cleansing method some of you have mentioned, I've been using the same old products and methods for years. I think my skin has finally rebelled, although I'm sure it's got worse with the cold weather and the central heating.

    Anyway todays small changes.

Facepack & several lots of E45 itch relief cream to my face. Skin feels a bit calmer.
Exercise - 2kms on my exercise bike and 5 minutes physio type stretches for my back
Rubber gloves by the sink so I actually use them, same with hand cream.
Reduced sugar to half a teaspoon - don't like sweetener
Started taking a multi vitamin and starflower oil

Tomorrow will get my hair done

I'm sure losing weight can be done by other means but I just wanted to tell you my story by way of encouragement. I had never been on a diet in my life and always stayed a stable weight. However over the last ten years due to, amongst other things, lifestyle changes and less active job my weight crept up until I felt I was 2-3 stone overweight. I had contemplated just living with it but, on a whim, I joined Slimming World. Having lost almost 1.5 stone in the last twelve weeks it's made such a difference to how I feel about myself. I was feeling frumpy, lost interest in buying clothes because of larger sizes etc etc As you say that, like me, you're not a big fan of sweet stuff you should find it really easy. It's not really a diet, more a healthy eating plan.

I have no connection to SW, don't stand to gain anything :rotfl:- in fact I hope to be back to my 'normal' weight by the spring.

It's just a thought that maybe a structured plan may help.

In just over six months I shall be sixty. I look and feel dreadful and have decided it's high time to do something about it.

Any help, advice, tips, inspiration, kicks up the backside will be very much appreciated.

I do not have the pressure of being a carer (hugs) but we could be twins! Apart from the weight (I need to lose 3/4 stone) and sizes your description is me!

Your post has inspired me to also try and get control of my way of life. I am concerned about my health so really need a kick up the backside!
My problems started when I gave up smoking (25 yrs) so I have yo yoed for many years, it was easier to get back into 'shape' when I was younger but it is so hard to do now.
Well, almost drank one and a half litre's of water (good for the skin)while I have been reading and writing this, now I need to try and set out some menu's (veggie) so I can stick to a routine, it's to easy to 'make do' and just have a sandwich and a cake.
Here's to a slimmer sixty, you must also be a June baby lessonlearned?
