Morning gang
I`ve decided that i`m going to have a green day today
I`m not sure what to expect really as its strange even thinking about putting the carbs in my mouth.
Brekkie will be porridge, dinner will be tuna on toast and tea will be hm spicy potato wedges and beans. One things for sure - it`ll be a very inexpensive day foodwise
Day off today and plans are to hang out the washing and walk the dogs and then start on the 1001 jobs that need doing.
The sooner i start the sooner i`m finished so i shall make a move.
Sarah - ((((HUGS)))) hope that everything is ok x
Catch up later everyone, have a good day.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all.
Sunny I wish I had half of your 'get up and go', you seem so flipping organised and together it amazes me. I really need you rub off on me, I'm a terrible procrastinator.
I hardly slept last night for thinking about my door frame. The joiner has made it bigger than I would and it's bothering me. I think most joiners give themselves plenty room to work with for quickness but I don't really care about that, lol. It's literally only a couple of mm of a difference but it's bugging me to the point of waking up at 5am and getting the tape measure out again. I do know this isn't normal behaviour btw I just need things to be 'right'.
:D I've spent 20 years with cheap shoddy jobs and cheap shoddy materials etc, now I'm shelling out for quality doors etc I want them to be damn near perfect.
I'm going to have to mention it and risk p*ssing him off, if I don't it'll just bug me after he's gone and I'll end up ripping it out and doing it myself. I'm so bloody hard to live with sometimes. :rotfl:The upshot of being like this is that you burn more calories because of the nervous tension and stress.
Think I can hear his van now, hope you all have a good day and Sarah, hope you're coping and Mum is ok.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Morning folks.
Best wishes Sarah. Hope things are ok.
Hope that foot's improving Alias
I was laid up on the couch for most of yesterday. Threw up a couple of times before taking puppy chops out, then was devoid of energy, then just seemed to hurt all over... didn't eat much (managed a little tomato soup and half a cereal bar that little one didn't want), but after OH got home I had 2 paracetamol AND an ibuprofen.. perked up a little after that and shared a nice jam-filled muffin with him, with a cuppa T. Yum!
All that remains of the bug, or whatever it was, is a bad back. Otherwise I think I'm okay.. (I did do a LOT of stretching in front of the TV the night before.. wonder if I overdid it...)
Darned bugs. I was planning on a really long walk yesterday but couldn't manage it, then I was going to somehow tether pup up in the garden and get the boys to help me do a bit of (much needed) gardening.. oh well, hopefully we will manage that soon...
Well done on your loss MFD!! Fantastic! :T
Sunny, you sound so organised and together. 'Laura Ingalls Wilder' springs to mind reading some of your posts. Delightful
Sounds like you're dong well Sweet. Keep it up
Hope your body clock recovers soon Mazzers0 -
Hi all. Thanks for your wishes.
Things are okish. Mum is in hospital having collapsed on Friday. Dad, being Dad, didn't call me - it was only because I had been trying to contact them all day that I eventually got hold of him in the evening and found out what had been going on. Got there on Saturday morning, mum clearly pretty demented, which is very unlike her - normally 100% compos mentis. But because she had been brought in for a 'fall', it was impossible to get hte staff to understand that her behaviour was the thing that should be causing concern - to them she was just another batty old dear.
Anyway. saturday night she ran rings round them - it's funny now but then it was really disturbing. She thought she had been kidnapped and was in the 'Prisoner' and had to escape - kept hallucinating and shouting that unless they let her call me she was going to throw a rock through the window and that would make them take notice of her! THis is the sweetest little old lady you can imagine, she turned into some insane harpy!
Anyway, turns out she has at least one, possibly several infections which are sending her batty. The antibiotics are working and she is much more lucid (and very embarrassed at her behaviour, insisted on getting chocs for the night staff!). But because she is still very weak and obviously has lots of other physical problems she is being kept in for a while.
It's tough though because my dad is not coping so well, the house was a bit of a state, he is not one to ask for help and is a typical proud, irritable grumpy old man. Plus I'm an only child and I live two hours away and work full time. So it's a worry.
Saturday was so awful. I really thought mum might die that night, she seemed so poorly, and I know she felt that way too as she was very tearful and started telling me where all h er precious things were that she wanted to pass on to people. I'm getting a bit stressed as we have a two week holiday booked from August 8, can't imagine being able to relax on it at the moment. And in TUrkey, so quite far away.0 -
Aw Sarah - sorry to hear that you and your family have been through so much, so nice to hear of your mums improvement in the end!
I`ve ended up skipping breakfast as i`ve been so busy but shall be having my tuna on toast soon.
Woofaloes are now walked and i`ve filtered 2 demijohns of white wine and i`m just doing the coffee wine atm, the plums will be strained again afterwards and then i can finally get the liquid into another demijohn.
I keep setting myself little targets to keep me going or i`ll end up sat here all day
Hannoja -:rotfl: your post really made me chuckleHope that the bug has gone now and you`re back to normal.
Alias - If i`m not organised i get nothing doneif i make lists and set little targets then i`m much better, the main problem is that i work such long hours and nothing much gets done on those days but my days off are like a mad catchup. If i don`t do things then its days before i get another chance. Hope that everything goes ok with the joiner
Little things like that (well little things to some other peeps) are usually big things to me too, think that we`re quite alike in lots of ways.
Catch y`all later!

Sarah, your Mum is far from alone in acting slightly erratically shall we say. When my Mum was in hospital, she was a bit loopy for a while too. To the point of 'whispering' (very loudly) that the male nurse was ' a !!!!!!'. She waxed lyrical about this for ages and genuinely thought she was being quiet and discreet, when in reality she was louder than....well, a loud person.
Now my Mother was the nicest, quietest woman you could ever hope to meet. I'm not even conviced she knew what 'a !!!!!!' was. It was so unbelievably out of character that we all just stood there with our mouths open. Thankfully the male surse was not in the least phased, he told us that was quite mild compared to some of the things the patients came out with due to their treatment or as in your Mum's case, infections.
Another lady in Mum's ward used to walk through the ward wheeling her drip behind her, but she thought it was a phone and she'd wander about asking for change. At night, she would walk into the men's ward naked. :rotfl: I kid you not, tis true.
Hope the antibiotics do their job quickly. Once she's better I'm sure you'll feel more relaxed and able to leave for a while. I do strongly think you should go on holiday now, you may need to recharge your batteries for tougher times ahead. Especially with your Dad not being the most supportive of peeps.
Sunny, joiner still alive, as am I.Although, I thought he'd put a bit of floor in upside down and called him on it. Turns out, they'd changed the spec and it's now made to go that way....as confirmed by the 'this side up' writing on the board.
:rotfl: Oh well. I'll stay out of his way now I think.

Well done on the half pound off :j Better down than up!! I know you wanted your stone off but you'll get there next week.
I've been really busy, desperately trying to clean the house & finish diy jobs that should have been done ages agoWe now have new flooring in the bathroom after *whistle* years
& a new rug & picture in the front room
House is finally starting to look how I envisaged it when we moved in.
I've had to move the laptop (wireless is another job I need to do) & I'm now sat in the corner like little Jack Horner every time I want to use it!! Tis not very comfortable.
sarah, hope your Mum is feeling better, what a horrible time for you0 -
Poor sarah, it must be hard not having the support of siblings, and your poor mum wanting you to sort out her posessions, she must have been so frightened...awww.
Glad she's feeling better though, i agree you should go and enjoy your holiday, i wouldnt want my boys to miss a holiday, even if i died it wouldnt matter, id be already gone.0
