hiya all,

Well I went BR on the 23/09/2009 and told my work on the 24/09/2009 i work for a big bank in the insurance section and I have been taken offline as cant advise customers now as I am BR!!! even though I have been doing so for the past 3 weeks since I told them!!!!

Yesterday my manager told me I would be having a meeting with HR in the week beginning 26/09

I Can take a union rep with me which I will be doing

So i don't really know if i will be able to keep my job unless they move me to a non FSA regulated role

abit worried at the mo as i don't really want to lose my job!!

    Oooh gosh sjg,

Everything crossed for you! I'm guessing you knew there was a possibility of this before you went BR?

Sorry I have no advice but I hope it all works out for you, whatever the outcome.

  • Hi sjg1983

Sorry to hear this....certainly take union & make sure someone takes notes & make sure you read then afterwards & take a copy for yourself.

Here is the link to ACAS who can give free independant advice on your employment rights....see the website as there is a lot on there.Do your homework.

    http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1461

Your employer may be considering your suitability to perform your current role within FSA guidelines....if so make sure you get everything in writing. I would suspect that the Bank will consider alternative roles if it is necessary. In most Banks though it is the Bank that holds the license not the individual....again it depends on the organisation & the seniority of your role.

They may consider a disaplinary on grounds of personal financial conduct....I have a bit of a bug bear with this (I am ex Bank staff) ...everyones personal finances are completely private within the ruling of Data Protection Act 1998 As such it is none of your employers business to discuss or even have access to your data without your express consent(even if your employer is the Bank itself)....depends if you feel like pursuing that line of reasoning.

Good luck I`d be interested in the outcome...pm if you prefer.

    Take care & good luck,

    Angiex
