A lot of Scamera partnerships operate a "10% + 2" policy as set out in the ACPO guidelines, this equates to 35 in a 30 before any action is taken.

However, these are only guidelines & are not mandatory!

Even if your true speed was 32-33 mph you could still recieve a cofp as you were speeding! Pretty harsh in my view but........

All you can do is wait for the postie & see if anything turns up :)

The 10%+2 is almost completely abolished now. It was standard practice 15 years ago but not now. Lots of areas are 'zero tolerance'.

A friend of mine got a fine and points for 33mph in a 30 zone.

I think you'll find that it's still in the guidelines & as I said, it depends on the policy of the individual force/partnership. Some do indeed go with a zero tolerance attitude.

  • going by some of the self righteous replies on here i could have been forgiven for thinking the op was doing 60 in a 30, not 35.
    ...work permit granted!
  • Just been about in the car and the speedo seems to over read by 3-4 mph, got a feeling they where out for people with no tax / insurance etc... but as others said will have to wait for the postie (if they don't go on strike)

My Alfa seems to overread by about 4 mph at 30mph, when compared to my satnav unit.

Oh, dear ... we're comparing speedos to satnavs now? You wouldn't happen to have stuck new (incorrectly sized) alloys on your car would you? ;)
