I thought of this story. What's the point of the police when they don't do anything?

My own experience: emailed local police on 14th as didn't see the point in wasting my breath on the phone.
Just got a reply today the 18th
Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the reasons for no one having contacted you and can only apologise for this but I have forwarded this on to XXXX your PCSO, who will contact you in due course.

I'm getting a digital video camera for the car - and once I've got the little toe rags on video I will be able to do something about it. It's utterly mad though to have to do this.

You've mentioned mediation. This can seem like a great idea even if you do it entirely indirectly. But you need real hard evidence of the neighbours actions. Even a tape recording of the sound of the ball being kicked against the house.

There is little the HA can do regarding the homeowners (apart from the mediation) but they can definitely act on the tenants if their visitors are being antisocial. They can ultimitely be evicted for breach of tenancy, as their tenancy agreement should say about antisocial behaviour by visitors to the property. If the HA hasn't already written to them, it may be worth a try, if it's pointed out about their possible breach of tenancy.

I do feel for you, you should be able to feel safe and calm inside your own 4 walls and not have to be stressed by obnoxious visitors to other people's houses.

    Good luck!
  • Yes you can exchange if the tenancy is now in your name.

Hello, It all came to a bit of a head tonight with me calling the police and them arresting one of the troublemakers! About bloody time I think. He got off with a strong harassment warning and if he does anything again he will be fined and locked up so that is good. He spent a few hours in a cell today, and also had to clean my windows lol. His friends all got warnings too from the policeman and I now know this ones name so will be reporting it to HA :D.
Will see how it goes now. :)

It was quite funny really, if only I had a camera! lol!
The police came out quite fast, half an hour! Nearly fainted lol.
We were standing in the living room talking to the police when the guy walked past so they ran out to talk to him and took him straight to the van. It was pure luck he was going past at the time. He said he wasnt in the area obviously but they knew he was lying!
Im just glad something was done for once, maybe now they will realise we mean business!

Sorry should have explained better. We took over the tenancy from my parents as they moved but we had nowhere else to go. You can only do this once, so I was wondering if this would rule out swapping.

If you are the registered tenants, then you can exchange as many times as you like.

This may help with what the HA should be doing, in the meantime.

I don't know why your HA are making such hard work of this - all tenancy agreements state that the tenants sre responsible for what their visitors do, and that they can be evicted if their visitors or family cause a nuisance.

I would start to make it clear to them, that unless they start to deal with this, you will seek further remedy under the law.

This tells you how to complain to the HA Ombudsman:

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

    OMG.....How terrible!
Do you ever ask them for the reason?

There is no reason. The police spoke to him and he said himself he doesnt know us so there is not reason for it. Its obviously just happened yesterday but Im hoping this will change things since his friends were warned too.

Lin thankyou for that info, I will have a read!
