  • -BUMPED- to make sure plenty of people see the thread
  • I think you will find if you read this thread on the Referrer's Board, added to by Martin tonight, that it is not okay to cross post a referral.

Thanks Payless, I just checked Martin's post on the rules and I quote:

    v. Any referrals on the main board will be automatically removed unless they have Martin's express permission.

    and

What about if i want to tell people or join in debate about the subject on other boards in this Chat Forum? You can post in a discussion, but leave the referral out. However part of the site rules are you must always declare an interest. However I am happy if you make your point and then say - and i have a referral link that would gain me (and/or you) which i have put in the referral section, click here to read it.

This post is not part of a discussion (although it is becoming one, lol) but a referral post and therefore should not be cross posted.

Actually i think what AMS has done is ok. When Martin referrs to 'discussion', if you notice he uses the term 'a discussion' rather than referring to the Discussion Board. Hence, i think he was actually generalising any post on a thread rather than the specific board.

Likewise, in the above quote, it actually specifies that Martin is ok with people linking or mentioning their referral thread outside of the board if it is relevent. ASM does also make clear attempts to make it known that this thread is not to be used as a referral thread and to read the main one in Referrals.

I think the rule amendment recently was to specifically cover the abuse that was becoming prevelent in signatures with referral links, and that is something we still wish to eradicate.

However, i feel that this thread by AMS sits ok within the current rules. For the record, i think we would have an issue is people began continuously linking to the referral section from every other board in every way they could think of, but the occasional notification of a referral offer posted on a relevent board such as this is fine.
  • Hi there - sorry if this post has got a few people's backs up!! I just thought this was a pretty good offer so I should make it public but so far I've only had 1 PM so I'm guessing people don't think it's that great an offer!! :)
  • Just a quick update to add that BT are now offering reduced price Broadband for the first 3 months if you apply before 16th Feb.

When you sign up before 16th Feb 2005 to any tarriff except BT Yahoo! 1Mb, your first 3 months line rental will be reduced by £2 meaning you can now have BT Broadband from just £15.99 a month. You will still also receive all the other benefits described in my previous post if you apply before each offer's closing date.

Please see my post HERE on the referrers board for full details

    Thanks!!
  • Please read my first post on this topic as it has been updated to show the new offer.
    Thanks!!
