Council Parking Ticket after 6 mins over???

Hi - does anyone know the rules on a council parking fine, I was 6 mins over in a 45 min only street - so now I have a fine of £35.00. I want to appeal in view of how many mins over I was, does anyone know their rules? There doesn;t seem to be a mention of the timescales on the general MSE main site info.
Thanks
Thanks

45 minutes means 45 minutes. You may have been unlucky to be caught so soon after the time allowed, but you don't have grounds for appeal based on time alone, unless you can prove no contravention has taken place.
Of course, feel free to post the PCN here together with photos of the street signage so the legal experts can pick holes in the paperwork.0 -
Thanks for your reply. My husband said the same thing - 45 mins, no longer!
But...having said that, I would think there was some leeway?? Anyway, I have lost the PCN between getting in the car and arriving home, all of a fluster so I can't even check it was issued correctly. Any ideas?
thanks
:rolleyes:0 -
Post pics of the bay lines and signs where you parked (including the ends of the bay, and of the PCN front & back (when you find it).
In the meantime you could tell us which Council it was and provide a link to the place - if available - on Google Street View. That will be a start until you can provide more pics, maybe someone on here will know from experience whether the Council in question's PCNs are likely to be OK or not.PRIVATE 'PCN'? I'm afraid I agree with DaveF327. You might consider yourself unlucky to have been nailed for being a few minutes over, but technically you're in breach of the regulations and the warden is justified in his/her actions0

It is Staffordshire Moorlands Council and Market Street in Leek, Staffs. I really haven't a clue where the PCN is - it mus have blown away as I was getting in the car - maybe I should just pay up!0

I'll try and add the google street view. thanks0

That's up to you but if it were me I would look for a get-out clause!
There's more than just the PCN to go on anyway. In time the Council will send a Notice to Owner, maybe that will be flawed or the bay lines & signs will be non-prescribed, they quite often are. But I don't know specifically about your LA, other posters may do.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

While that sounds like a good idea, where would it end if there were some leeway? If a council allowed, say, 5 minutes leeway, people would then overstay by 10 minutes then post on here complaining they were "only" 5 minutes over the 5 minutes grace period. There has to be a line drawn somewhere, and while I sympathise with you, I can't see how rules can be bent without opening a further can of worms.I would think there was some leeway?
How are you going to pay then? If you wait for the Notice to Owner, you'll lose the early payment discount.Anyway, I have lost the PCN0 -

Well hopefully someone will find a technicality so mealeys won't have to pay!
I guess she could go into the appropriate Council office/parking shop & ask for a copy of he PCN. There's still time if she acts quickly & posts some more pics here this coming week, to see if any appeal may be warranted.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

hmmm...sometimes it just seems easier to pay up than fight...I don't know if I my nerves will take it! I've emailed them for now and I'll see what the outcome is, but I don't want to lose the chance of paying it at the discounted rate of £35, I really don't want to end up paying £70!!
I'll let everyone know how I get on with the email challenge - although I think I already know what the outcome will be0
