Protection System? Is that a virus? Please help

Hi,

I think my computer is infected. It keeps coming up with the alerts Protection System, but I think this is actually the virus. What do I do? Sorry I complete don't have any ideas how to check whether this is actually virus or if it is genuine warning. A friend of mine needed a computer so I let them have it for a while as i had a spare one that I preferred. It came back and seems very slow and it keeps coming up with these alerts but I cannot remove anything.

Please help!

I cannot get Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to work. When I was downloading I had loads of Protection System Alerts and then everything froze. Now I cannot get malwarebytes to scan. Shall I just uninstall and install again?

Remove Protection System Software Registry Values:
(Learn how to do this)

Did you successfully download MBAM? It should have a filesize of 4,045,544 bytes.

Rename the mbam-setup.exe file to supersaver.exe and try to run that. Remember to update before scanning.

No I still cannot get MBAM to work. I unistalled then installed again and still froze at the same moment.

You have not successfully downloaded it then! Can you download MBAM on another machine and transfer it across to the infected machine?

Can you explain a bit more. The processes that you mention, am I suppose to stop them? or the opposite? They are the only ones to be running
