surely you should have checked this before doing your washing

I fail to see why a customer should have to pull out a machine to check that the drainage connections etc have been properly replaced following an enginers service visit! B***** Hell - these people are surely expected to be competent at their jobs!

Yeah when I get my car serviced, I check the engine all over to make sure eveythings screwed back:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
  • My washing machine is fitted in alongside other units and the pipe work is all behind it. It would be extremely difficult for me to check all pipework is fitted correctly. That is the engineers job not the customers.
  • How did you get on?

  • They should definitely be held responsible. Have you contacted your insurance company? It might be worth it even if you don't want to make a claim at this stage. Everything should be left in a workable condition. It's ridiculous to suggest you should make sure of that yourself.

    Hope you get on ok.
  • I had a comet engineer out to my Dishwasher this week, similar problem the heating had gone. Anyway not only did he put it all back, but also ran a quick cycle to check it was working and draining properly. There was some water spillage when he tipped it up, but he mopped that up as well.
  • The 'engineer' did exactly the same to my machine but to be honest that has been the least of my worries with comet. last tuesday i collected and fitted my new replacement washing machine which was to replace the replacement washing machine. It worked beautifully for two days. Now not working. I have had so many 'engineers' out to the two previous machines that i have now lost all faith in the company - i will never buy anything from them ever again. I told them i wanted to return my machine and get a refund but no. I have now been four and a half weeks without a working washing machine. I have four children - my eldest is disabled and doubly incontinent. Comet are aware of this. I put in a complaint then a lovely lady from the investigations unit said she would help. However today after phoning yet again she tells me there is nothing she can do. Is comet outwith the law and the sale of good act 1979??? I am so furious and at the very end of my tether.

its the engineers job to put the unit back how it was before he came and that includes putting any pipes back in place, in any case washing machines arent exactly the lightest thing to move out just to check the pipes are in place,
