Comet Engineer!! Flooded my kitchen

trying-my-hardest

Hi all,
Just need to vent really.:mad::mad:
Basically bought Hoover washer dryer less than a year ago and spent extra £200 cover for machine. worst mistake ever!! dryer is useless, will never buy a washer/dryer again...but stuck with it now so heyho!
Anyway heating element went on dryer so engineer came out yesterday and fixed it..all fine.
This morning i put a wash on, only to discover later on that the engineer has pulled waste pipe out and not put it back..so flooded kitchen floor and units.
Surely he should check all pipes are connected before he leaves? he was quite rough when he pulled the machine out from under unit.
I have contacted Comet but have to wait till Monday for Service desk to be open.
Should Comet replace my kitchen floor which is now waterlogged(and only 1 yr old) and other bits that were ruined?
Thanks:o

I would have expected the engineer to do that.0 -

Surely the engineer tests the washer/dryer & puts it back in an operable condition when he leaves.
Its negligence.Not Again0 -
Thanks for your responses. I assumed that the guy would have put it all back.
Tbh i wouldn't know which pipes to check anyway.
I will update you with what the service centre says on Monday.0 -
I'd think they would be responsible to replace any damaged items.
The engineers not done his job properly and of course he should plumb everything back in, who would pull out the unit to check the pipes before use?
I know I wouldn't.

Really?! You really expect someone to check an engineer's work after they had done it? This assumes the customer knows what to look for and also exempts the engineer from any responsibility.
If you take your car to be serviced and they mechanic forgets to reconnect the brakes do your think that when you have to dive out of your car to stop yourself going over a cliff an acceptable defense would be, "Well the customer should have checked the brakes were connected before driving off"If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0 -

The poster means real cars, not pedal cars from Toys R Us.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Was he an engineer or a fitter...?0
