Squirral in Blockbuster today!

Was with the OH in town and was amazed to see a grey squirral clinging onto a couple of dvd's!! It then started running riot and sat in the bags of popcorn cleaning its self :rotfl::rotfl:

  • That's a grey squirrel not a red one: notice how it doesn't have any fur-tufts on its little squirrel-ears.

My German granny used to go on rest-cures to the Black Forest and the squirrels there were very, very bold. Any bag that was left unsecured would be delved into like a flash, they were so used to people feeding them treats.

My son drives a white van as a delivery driver, he phoned me the other day to say his mate had just called him to say there was a squirrel in his van! They must be getting bolder.

IIRC it's illegal to release a Grey Squirrel if you have caught it (they have to be destroyed or permenantly caged), so I hope th Blockbuster peeps managed to shush it out of the shop without catching it.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I think lowis's little rodent visitor is what might be termed a strawberry-blonde. Proper, acorn-eating Squirrel Nutkins are a lovely, deep Titian colour, with tufts.

Doesn't matter much either way, I adore the little things regardless of hue and am in awe of lowis's little fella's mountaineering skills. Maybe she could find him a job as a steeplejack. Hehe

i just saw a baby one outside my block, he was so confused and frightened, i think he was lost - he then ran into the road and under a passing car...thank god the wheels missed him! i sort of herded him back into the gardens and he scampered up a tree. phew!

It is offence to release an injured squirrel thats then recovered , ie if you take an injured squirrel anywhere it should be PTS , however if the squirrel in question is not injured then you can just release it straight back into the wild , I used to work for the RSPCA :D
