mobile phone down the loo, er is it working, er no

Right me lovely son dropped his phone down the loo, its an erickson.
I have a spare samsung, have put his sim card in it but it doesn't work, does it need unlocking?
We are both t mobile but without insurance.
He is totally embarrassed whereas I am LOL............

    If the message that pops up says something along the lines of 'Insert correct SIM', the phone is locked and you'll need to find a code, or (more likely because it's a Samsung) get it unlocked directly.

    Just been playing about with them
    We have 3 t mobile sims, 2 work in it, 1 doesn't but it works in a different mobile.
    Younger son has a new phone he now has the older samsung, older son has newer phone, younger son a bit peeed off, older sons sim smells of pee

    isn't it ironic
    Any suggestions would be gratefully received still

    Hmm... you could try cleaning the SIM card's contacts, as well as the metal contacts in the phone's SIM card slot - use an eraser. As for the smelly SIM card, you could wipe it with some dilute cleaner, as long as you don't use the SIM before drying it out it should still work.

    I would actually suggest getting the SIM replaced, as it's been wet and will start corroding (and malfunctioning) after a while.
