Help with cancelling plusnet contract

I am trying to cancel my plus net contract and have been with them for 9 months. When registering I paid a fee of £11.75 which meant that I could cancel the contract whenever I wished. They are now trying to charge me £47 for cancelling their service, which they say is a 'deferred activation fee'. Is this right?

if you migrated in - then its a mistake
if you took up their free activation, then its correct
Plusnet reduce the charge over 5 years, which is why i would never recommend anyone tojoin them, that and my current isp (zazizam) has been great....
I think it went down by £11.75 a year or something, and if you had the hardware, an extra £5 a year
as i always say - if you dont look at the terms of free activation/hardware properly, then things like this happen0 -
Plusnet are a catastrophy.. believe me.
They don't answer their phones, it doesn't matter how manytimes I've called, they simply do not answer, even the 50p/min line.0
