2 years ago i requested my gas meter to be changed to a pre-paid one.

How can i get the original meter back because i rent the apartment and the landlord did not like that.

Ring Atlantic and pay them to change the meter.

Have a look at your tenancy agreement - there may be a clause that prohibits you from changing supplier without the Landlords agreement, or changing the type of meter.
But if there isn't, the landlord may not like it, but can't do much about it - however it would be as well to try to chat to the landlord and explain that you were attempting to get tight control on costs to avoid running up debts, which might then include the rental payments

no he cant, he doesnt own the meter and its not grounds for holding the deposit. if he did you could take him to small claims as the meter doesnt belong to him

make sure you tell him who the supplier is and if the meter has to be changed back come to an arrangement over costs the landlord may have because of it

Which type of meter would you prefer to have, KayBenson? If you would prefer a prepayment meter, I don't really see legally what the landlord can do about it whilst you are living there. The landlord does not own the meter.
Having said that, if you have an assured shorthold tenancy, there is a chance the landlord may want to serve you notice to leave if he/she realises there is aprepayment meter here. I would suggest that is unlikely though.

speak to atlantic see what they say and if any charges would be involved and then make informed decision to change meter back before you move out if they let you or if they will not come to an arrangement with the landlord so he can change it when you move out.

Having a prepayment meter may cause him problems when letting it as a new tenant will need to get their own card for the meter so they are paying the correct tariff for them and not what ever tariff or any debts if you have any by using your card. All of which is a hassle for new tenant, landlord and letting agent if any.

Agree with that but having a ppm means you dont get the situation of tenants skipping off without paying the bill which could ultimately come back to the landlord or worst the next tenant being forced to have a ppm because of the credit rating of the property which suppliers do appear to take into account.
