Broadband companies who have proper Technical Support

Can anybody recommend any decent broadband providers who use ordinary Technical Support.

I want a service where people can answer the question.

This is opposed to this crap like Wanndoo and AOL who have people from God knows where with no knowledge of broadband going through millions of drop down questions from a computer screen.
It's a joke.

I've just been talking to Wanadoo's excuse at TS and hung up twice.
Not only is it a pound a minute or something, but it's complete PAP!!!

Just for reference, the modem worked fine on arrival, died 5 days in, yesterday. PC not picking it up. No lights. Dead. Tried it in another PC. Dead!! Like the people answering the phones as Wanadoo Technical Support.

Sorry for the rant, but the quicker we stop subscribing to this rubbish and demand better service, the quicker they're going to listen !!!!

    Hi
I've used my tech support twice, they are based in Telford Shropshire, both times I was talking to a tech within a couple of minutes of phoning them. Once was about my router and the other was about ADSL Max and the trial.

I would say this is the best support I have ever had from any isp that I have been with, just talking to someone on the phone within a few minutes, was a very pleasant experience, usually I've always been put on hold and had to wait for ever. And with one isp I was with, I had to call an Indian call centre and I couldn't understand him and he couldn't understand me, it was dreadful.

I'm with UKFSN, (resellar of Entanet) 30gb on peak limit, 300gb off peak limit, up to 8mb speed, for £19.99mth, with a 1mth contract.

    Hope this helps

    Freedom2surf.

    Also try http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp

When you compare Service Providers and get the bar-charts, make sure you hover your mouse over the bars in the charts ....... gives the number of users that have given feed-back .... Freedom2surf is always in the 1,000's, whilst others are in the 100's.
It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!

I dont think they exist mate, most problems that I have are due to ther being an outage in the area and I find that out by phoning someone in another area to do a service status check.

Only the smaller ISP's seem to have in house support the rest out source it to india or another middle eastern country making it very dificult to understand them. the other thing is that most ISP's also have a 2 layer support system where you fist get the trained idiot who askes you questions that have nothing to do with your problem but they ask them just incase it solves the problem the 2nd layer are the guys that know what they are doing and most of the time are able to solve the problem unfortunalty you have spent 15 minutes with the 1st layer before getting to them at £1.50 a minute.

    Freedom2surf.

    Hi
I've just migrated away from these, I found these to be one of the worst isp's for support, tickets raised that are never answered, can't get them on the phone, if your lucky to get in the queue, then you have to wait forever to speak to a tech, a nightmare, one of the reasons why I left them.
But this is just my personal experience of them, obviously yours has been better.

    Hi,

I use euro1net.com, free email support and they respond within a day, with sensible answers, also you can pay a one off charge of £5 for the first month and they give you 0800 tech support, used it once and very quick, BT reset and turned off my ASDL card at the exchange.

To get best price you have to sign up for 2 years, but it works out at 9.99 a month for unlimited 1mb usage.

Must admit telewest was very good, in fact I was gutted when I had to move from a telewest cable area. If I had the choice I would go with telewest every time.

freedom2surf (f2s) i used them to host websites before and are very good a tech support

It seems daft but small companies give better support! Number of friend that AOL, Wanadoo cant fix but i fix in seconds in silly

    hope this helps,

I'll second that. I was with them but have since gone back to Eclipse. Back in the day they were great, but since October of last year they've been awful. For over a month we were browsing slower than dial up. Why didn't we leave, because we were constantly told they'd nearly fixed it.

They did have a lot of technical issues that have now been sorted (still not as good as my Eclipse connection though). Their staff were generally ok, but that was only when a) I could get through, b) they responded to my numerous emails and tickets raised. It was a frustrating experience, hence I left.

I don't think you'll find anyone with great technical support. Your best bet is to become more techie and use forums such as this one.

    Definitely Zen. http://www.zenadsl.co.uk/

They are fairly expensive but are by far the best ISP in terms of customer support ( if needed ) and broadband service.
You actually get to speak to a person in the UK without being on hold for 10 minutes !

    Another vote for Zen here.

They are reknowned for their customer service. Not only do they answer the phone immediately (in the UK), their staff are actually trained to know what they are on about (they don't only read and quote what the computer says). They also offer full support for Apple OS.

I've been with them for about 2 years now, and the service is so reliable, I've never needed to speak to them about a technical matter. I've contacted them to set up extra email accounts (free), and they set up the accounts not longer than 10 minutes after I got off the phone.
