Hi guys
On monday I called Abbey and put in a complaint about how they have treated me over their credit card. I have threatened to go to the financial omsbudmen. Anyway, I wake up today and find a big bunch of flowers on the door step. I get really excited and then read the card and realise Abbey have sent me them as part of an apology.
Is this the usual for them?:T

no resolution yet.
they told me it could take up to 8 weeks for a solution or even just a reply.
Im thinking i might give them a couple and then maybe report them0 -
That probably is the solution...I work for a major holiday company and we do this.0

i once got some flowers and a couple of bottles of red wine [cheap stuff] as an apology from them for one of their cashires asking me loudly 'are you on benefits love' when it was quite clear that wages were being paid into my account and no sign of any benefit payments. i would have let it go had she not sneered down her nose at me as if i was scum. yes dear some mothers with babies in prams do actually work for a living. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0

it's done in the hope that you will drop the whole complaint - cheaper than settling it properly. I work for a well known High St bank (not Abbey) and it was standard practice when I was a branch manager to send a £25 bunch of flowers to avoid spending time investigating the complaint properly and potentially having to pay out upwards of £50 or so in compensation0

last time i went into the abbey i ended up speaking to a manager in order to change my address for my statements, some 4 months after i moved, as they never have staff on the front desk.
i got a mouthful of attitude totally unprovoked by the manager, sorry i just want my statement sending to the house i actually live at rather than where the rest of my family live.things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

That's all they have to do for you to get a boquet and some champers, albeit cheap? Normally from some places you'd be lucky to get a letter of apology for that.
Next time I'm running a little short I might head to my local Abbey and say I'm not happy with the way they stamped my paying in book or the way the cashier looked at me. Might get a nice little nightcap.Male.

I actually disagree with this, maybe some companies do it to get rid of you. But where I used to work, we used to do it when you personnaly felt for the customer. (ie. You knew the company was at fault and you knew it would take time to sort but you felt something should be done quickly - it was a personal gesture: no guidelines as to when to send, just when you felt like it)Originally Posted by Dr Cuckoo3
