The depths some people sink to - attempts to get this board closed down (GIOL)

Read the VERY interesting thread called "TGT Big Shots should read this" on the beatingbonuses forum > Online Casinos section.

(As a new member here I cannot post a link).

It is people discussing about how they might be able to engineer the closing of this board (& other forums too) because of the perceived threat to their income.

Here are some choice excerpts:

MSE did start allowing +EV promos and a LOT of effort went into reversing this and was successful.

If the UK's moneysaver expert became known as encouraging peopl to gamble and lose, that forum would go quickly.
Reply: I think thats worth a try...

just start threads about -EV offers then report them to the abuse team.

also report any threads with mention of gnoming or non risk free stuff, even if its a 10p risk, and the whole thread gets nuked. that !!!!es them off a lot if its 20 pages long

all you have to do is click 'abuse' on the posts......

i often see how many threads i can blast away while doing live dealer

Five people sign up as new posters, make a couple of needy questions ... then go to sleep and wait.......Just wait for the next bookie to change its terms retrospectively or something .. spreadbets .. etc
We just need a few sleepers to act off forum.

You could clog up the forum with crap offers so the good ones get lost and people get fed up of trawling through it. Problem is, those muppets seem to love trawling through rubbish - the forum is 99% garbage and inane chat already.

Come on, lets do it.

Im already signed up there with a good rep (I have my ways ) but if we can get maybe five of us to sign up, some inane posts and go to sleep. We can then hit the button at some point and talk of losing hundreds at some bookie to be decided at some date in the future. All off forum of course.

So there you have it. Proof, if any were needed, that there are plenty of people out their actively trying to sabotage this forum in order to protect their own income.

One can only presume they're not too bright since they're discussing this in public but maybe they haven't realised they're not the only people who read more than one forum.

I suggest that the posts from anyone with less than a few hundred posts & a few hundred thanks*** are treated with extreme scepticism and at the very least everyone who benefits from this forum should bear in mind that these characters are out there & be on the alert for their attempts at disruption.

One simple solution that would render much of this activity ineffective would be to try to encourage all forumites here to never reply to new threads with newbie questions in-thread: make it the standard action that such posts only ever get a polite steer in the direction of the newcomers questions thread. That would have the twofold benefit of preventing this board becoming clogged AND stymie the attempts by people to create new threads with the sole purpose of disrupting/damaging MSE GIOL.

I think a useful function for any posts as mentioned above is the spam button - if everybody makes sure to click the spam button everyt ime there is a post trying to clog the forum up, the thread is automatically deleted.

I only found out about this the other day so posting it in case anybody else didn't realise it was there/how it worked.
This is WAY more fun than monopoly.

Agree with most of the op.

With newbie threads, it's often difficult to judge whether it's a wind up/trolling post, or a genuine newbie. If in doubt i tend to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I still dont actually understand why this forum isnt a sign in and read only forum?

I have web experience and i know its not a hard thing to implement and will have no negative effect on the other forums within the site.

It will definatly help to stop alot of the silliness that goes on here.

So they want the GIOL board closed down so that less people find out how to extract money from bookies/cas!nos - yet their site is called beat!ngbonuses DOT com ??

    Interesting thread

In terms of protecting their income I agree that MSE does open up doors to enough people to ultimately damage the cash cow. I missed out on tipico because I wasn't quick enough. If that offer had been around 2 years ago then there wouldn't have been a problem.

However, I can't complain because this forum has made me thousands of pounds. It would be nice for selfish reasons for this forum to have gone a couple of years ago after I had learnt about matched betting but that's not happened and there is no reason for it to.

I do think that there are good reasons for Martin to re-think if this forums really is risk free though because of the actions of some bookies (Tipico). I do think that a lot of us are going to get really stung with one of these offers shortly because a bookie panics.

There are other forums on the internet too :)

It's nice to think we're really big and powerful and that our business close bookies down but most of the people on here are pretty small fry compared to those elsewhere.
