Your tariff does not have Economy 7.
That is why the bill is so high.
I make the total £1384.57 not £1166.35. Leaving £218.22 amiss.0 -
well how do i get on that?
id love to know how you worked that out
so if the bill says its from last year how come they are saying its from over a couple of years but they havnt got the copies of my bills surley they must have somewhere?
im still baffled ..... mabe i should go to c.a.b tomorrow and see what they say0 -

Your going to have to recall the steps you took to register with your supplier when you moved in. This definately something CAB can help with as you really need to be on it *from* when you moved in.michellej wrote:id love to know how you worked that out
Stop: 12006
Start: 7559
Units: 4447
First 182 units @ £0.1293 = £23.53
Next 4265 (4447-182) units @ £0.0748 = £319.02
Cost: £23.53 + £319.02 = £342.55
VAT @ 5% = £17.13 (This may just be a rounding error but it's only a penny)
Total: £342.55 + £17.13 = £359.68 (or £359.67)michellej wrote:mabe i should go to c.a.b tomorrow and see what they say
Yip!
What happened when you moved in? Did you contact NPower and give them your details and meter readings?
Assuming you did not switch providers, my guess is that NPower did not put you on the same tariff as the previous occupant.
IMHO, this is something the CAB should be able to help you resolve.
Hmm, I'm getting confused with the OP's details and yours so not sure if bills have been fine in the past. Always best to start a new thread!michellej wrote:most of the time ive had est bills which are high between 150-300pounds per1/4 had the old meter changed from the old one to a digital about two yrs ago,but 2mths ago i had an actual meter reading and you woulnt believe the bill i recieved 1166.64
Your switch to a digital meter is the most likely cause of the problem. I'm not familiar with them, so maybe whoever installed it has done so incorrectly. See here. See the note on Super tariff too, which is what I think you *should* be using from this supplier.0 -

Michelle,
It is very difficult to follow what you have written.
However it appears that your ESTIMATED meter reading on 06 June 2005 was 7559.
The actual reading on 22 Dec 05 was 24790 and according to your earlier posts your own reading of the meter was 27157 on 7th April and 28976 on 18June 06.
There is no problem with the price per unit you are being charged; your problem(if the meter readings are to be believed) are the huge amounts of electricity you are using.
If the estimated reading on 06 June 2005 was correct, you have used 21,417units in a year. (28976 - 7559) So pretty clearly the 06 June estimate was far too low.
However in 6 months from 22/12/05 to 18/06/06 you have used(only) 4186 units.(28976-24790) So that would indicate an annual consumption close to 9,000 units a year. This is still a huge amount for a 3 bed semi with gas CH and will cost about £750 a year.
It seems to me that the problem has been that your estimated readings for some while prior to 22 Dec 05 were far too low and you were paying too little. Thus you built up a pretty big debit balance that has now caught up with you.
So from what I can see the charges raised against you are valid.
I can't advise on how you pay your deficit. However you really do need to look seriously at why you are using so much electricity.
Are your TV's and PCs left running all the time? Lights left on. Could you have an Immersion heater left switched on? Washing machine and dryer used a lot.0 -
Just a thought If you have a timer switch on the immersion switch just check it works. A few months back I checked ours. I found that the switch had arched and had welded shut meaning it was on all the time. It is worth checking every now and again as this is common.
Easy check. Turn the trip switch on and off for the immersion in the consumer unit while watching the meter run it will tell you if your timer switch is workingThe measure of love is love without measure0 -
